Shep then began sputtering "I need to make one quick correction there MY FRIEND, uh you said they got rid of Flynn over the concerns of his ties with Russia. That was certainly one of the explanations given. Today, Sean Spicer said it was a lack of trust. We had a new explanation from the President today, uh that it is the medias fault and Hillary supporters were trying to coverup. Do you have any idea why it is that Trump has spoken highly of Putin and never negatively and yet, they have a spy plane uh boat sitting out there. None of this makes any sense. Letterman corrected him and said, he hasn't always spoken positively of Putin. Letterman corrected him several times as well. Try as he might, Shep was not able to hang it all on Trump.
