The Carbon-Tax Scam(BS!)
townhall.com ^ | 2/14/2017 | Stephen Moore

I have nothing but respect for former Secretaries of State Jim Baker and George Shultz, but come on, gentlemen: You've been snookered.

These two esteemed gentlemen are endorsing a tax scam that would be one of the largest income-redistribution schemes in modern times. It would do considerable and lasting damage to the U.S. The justification for the tax is that it will save the planet by reducing greenhouse-gas emissions, but it won't even do that.

The Baker-Shultz plan would impose on America a carbon tax, which would be a tax on American energy consumption. Since energy is a central component of everything that America produces, it would make the cost and thus the price of everything -- and I mean everything -- produced in America more expensive. It is a tax that only China, India, Mexico and Russia could love.

The tax is highly regressive, so the remedy that the two call for is a quarterly check from the Social Security Administration for every American. They call this a dividend. Somehow they have come to the conclusion that two really bad ideas paired together make for a good idea.

So let's get this straight: We are going to tax the producers of the economy and then give the money to people who don't produce, and somehow this isn't going to negatively affect the economy. If that makes sense, then why not adopt a 100 percent tax on production and then redistribute the money to everyone?

Hmmmm. Let's see. Levy a tax on a non-existent issue and somehow this helps solve the non-existent issue. Uh, NO! WTH? Are the working with manbearpig now? Is he trying to get his carbon trading scam cranked back up. Hopefully these two assclowns have sore ears from getting tossed out on them. Guess some of the best ain't the brightest. Fidiots.

Just a bankrupt country looking for new revenue streams.
Once upon a time, desperate states taxed windows, chimneys, street frontage, etc.

The tax also allows them to hand out favors in the form of credits, exemptions, etc.

I thought liberals said taxes don’t change behavior? How come they had to keep increasing the cigarette tax?

If the problem is real, how will a tax make it better? During WWII rationing was nearly immediate. Emergency measures were taken. If this really is an emergency that is threatening the planet, drastic measure must be taken. No more driving effective immediately.

I can’t believe this crap is actually being even being talked about. I am thinking Ivanka and Preibus open the door to this BS. If they shove this down our way throats Trump is dead to me.

We Have to get through to people that in discussing “global warming”, you have to understand that this is a 3 leg stool.

Global warming. ( I refuse to say climate change )

Cap and Trade

And the Chicago Climate Exchange.

This is a 3 way new Fiat money commodities exchange, designed to redestribute money , and to be skimmed off of relentlessly by those so forcefully pushing it.

Gore and Goldman Sachs and all of the usual characters are neck deep in this, and they are heading the most massive fraud in the history of the world.
And they have an army of useful idiots to point at it...

Everything you need to know about the climate change agenda was stated quite clearly by the UN's top climate official in 2015:

"This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model, for the first time in human history.

"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the industrial revolution. That will not happen overnight and it will not happen at a single conference on climate change, be it COP 15, 21, 40 - you choose the number. It just does not occur like that. It is a process, because of the depth of the transformation."
--Christiane Fugueres, Executive Secretary of UNFCCC

This is a tax increase, disguised as a "carbon" tax to fight global warming, collected by the IRS and then redistributed to everyone with a Social Security number. Huh? WTF?!

To what end? How does this combat climate change? And why are they giving it back to the SS# holders? How much does the government keep of this tax? You know they would not go through all this and not keep a big hunk of change from this three-card Monte confidence game.

This is a bigger scam than the original climate change hoax is. Talk about doubling down on Leftist schemes. These two old guys are suffering from dementia or Alzheimers or just plain old profiteering.

Your “(BS!)” is misplaced. People usually see these extras as comments on the content. You intended it as a comment on the topic, but there is no way to tell without reading the article.

Didn't George Shultz get sucked into that Theranos scam, somehow? He got snookered by whats-her-name?

He did good things under Reagan, but it might be time for him to hang it up, sounds like he might have lost a step. President Reagan's term ended 30 years ago.

I will typically skip articles posted like that assuming that it is an opposition article. Posters use such editorial comments to warn us, at FR, to have a barf bag ready. It also allows browsers to skip the liberal tripe (which is great to be posted!). Your marking usage was not usual. That was my only comment.
