Farhan Ahmed hoped to find refuge in the United States after fleeing death threats in Somalia, but fear over a US crackdown on immigration sent him on another perilous journey -- to Canada.
The 36-year-old was among nearly two dozen asylum seekers who braved bone-chilling cold on a February weekend to walk across the border, trudging through snow-covered prairies in the dead of night to make a claim in this country.
It was a record number of arrivals for a single weekend in the small border town of Emerson, and Canadian officials said Thursday they are bracing for more.
US President Donald Trump's controversial ban on refugees and nationals from seven Muslim-majority nations has prompted many who had hoped for a new life in the US to flee north.

Oh, perfect. Let's lionize someone who breaks the law regardless of whose law it is. Typical liberal crap: Laws are for lesser people than me. They all need a good punch in the snout and then they should be chained to the illegals they support for a year or so.

The latest from Soviet Canuckistan. Canada is complaining that the US Border Patrol is not doing enough to keep the Somalians south of the border! What a hoot. The US has absolutely no responsibility to control the actions of anyone within its borders, and they are free to wander right up to the border. And once they step across the imaginary line they are Canada’s problem. If Trudeau doesn’t like it he can build a wall.

Yeah, and just wait 'till they discover that May-hee-co has very strict immigration laws, and they DO enforce them.
This Somalian surge is just a snow squall compared to the Mexican Monsoon that will hit Canada once the weather warms up. A million “refugees” in one year and Canada will get a taste of what the US has had do deal with for decades, and maybe that smug condescending smile will be wiped off Trudeau’s pretty boy face.
Go to Canada. Trudeau will welcome you with open arms.

Trump should absolutely test Trudeau’s resolve. Free bus transportation to the Canadian border for any illegal - Mexican or otherwise - who wishes to flee to the somewhat colder socialist nirvana north of the 49th. Trudeau and his ilk like to preach against the “heartless” Trump and ooze “compassion” for the border jumpers as long as they are crossing a border a couple of thousand miles to the south. Let’s see if Trudeau changes his tune when the bus fleets start to arrive at the Canadian border.
