A lawyer for a Mexican national sentenced to eight years in prison for voter fraud in Texas said that President Donald Trumps widely debunked claims of election rigging was the 800-pound gorilla in the jury box.
Rosa Maria Ortega, 37, was convicted in Fort Worth this week on two felony counts of illegal voting over allegations that she improperly cast a ballot five times between 2005 and 2014.
Her attorney, Clark Birdsall, said Friday that Ortega was a permanent resident who was brought to the U.S. as a baby and mistakenly thought she was eligible to vote. He said she voted Republican, including for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, whose office helped prosecute her.
The sentence was stark voter fraud convictions, which are rare, many times result in probation. And as a convicted felon, Ortega will very likely be deported after serving her sentence.

“They,(Democrats) cannot win any election without massive illegal voting”
They can’t win anything, including a debate, unless the cards are stacked. And even then they don’t actually “win” that the media doesn’t simply declare them the winner.
Just like the polls had hillary winning by a landslide.
Cheat lie and steal..repeat.
She stil broke the law and of course we know she voted how she voted because Republicans don't go around voting in 5 different places.
She registered in multiple counties to vote more than one time. She is not a citizen and voted multiple times anyway.
I notice she pulls the I don’t speak the language so I didn’t understand card....but she’s been here for a long time.
Send her to a Mexican prison. See how she fares
When a person is too dumb to know the ‘Voting Laws’, they should be denied any right to vote!
Mind your language, please; there are ladies present.
Send a note to her lawyer, Mr Birdsh-t.
a/k/a the Rule of Law mindset
SO WHAT if she did vote republican. That only makes Trump look better.
And if the illegal alien “thought she was eligible to vote”, why did she LIE about being a citizen?
Was she registered to vote and have a card to present ?
If she was, she has a point...
***********************
She is lying. I read another article that said she was denied a voter registration card because she checked the not a US citizen box. The denial letter told her the reason she was denied.
So, she filled out another registration form checking the US citizen box.
...because an opinion from a website that cannot even spell the word ‘news’ is so credible.
That's like saying I should be able to write and cash checks because I still have a checkbook.......even though there is no money left in the account.
Let me guess:
“I’m a lifelong Republican but...”
Pro-Trump or Pro-American? But I repeat myself.
Not really...
That’s apples and oranges...
If she had a voter ID issued by the state, according to others article, she had one fraudulently issued, she would think she could vote...
Still is illegal but in her mind, it’s OK because she had a card...
She needs to go to prison...
If she had copped a plea, she probably would have ended up with probation.
And if she was registered to vote and had a card to present, no doubt we have MOTOR VOTER to thank for this.
The Clinton Crime Syndicate strikes again. In this case, BJ Clinton and "Motor Voter" laws that the democrats passed and their willing co-conspirators on the liberal judiciary upheld.
If she voted five times then it takes fewer of ones like her to get to the 3,000,000!!!
His ass needs to be in jail!!
They all moved away from her on the bench.
If she was, she has a point...
I guess it would depend on whether she was 100% up front when obtaining such card and registering - most have to sign an affidavit saying that they believe they are eligible - possible whoever issued such, if that was the case, should be prosecuted if due diligence was not taken.
Else, your argument would also apply to those with stolen SSNs.
