Amazon takes victory lap for its role in halting Trump’s travel ban

A top lawyer for internet retailer Amazon is taking a victory lap for the company’s role in the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision to retain the temporary restraining order halting President Trump’s travel ban.

“Proud of @AGOWA, the Amazon legal team that helped on the case, and amici — who all made today’s 9th Circuit ruling possible,” David Zapolsky, Amazon general counsel, wrote Thursday night on Twitter.

It’s unknown what precise role, if any, Zapolsky’s team played in the appeals court decision.

But there has been bad blood between Trump and Amazon owner Jeff Bezos for over a year.

On the campaign trail, Trump said the internet entrepreneur and newspaper owner would have “problems” if Trump was elected.

“I have respect for Jeff Bezos, but he bought the Washington Post to have political influence, and I got to tell you, we have a different country than we used to have,” said Trump at a campaign stop in February 2016.

“He owns Amazon. He wants political influence so that Amazon will benefit from it. That’s not right. And believe me, if I become president, oh, do they have problems. They’re going to have such problems,” Trump said of Bezos.

Hey, I use Amazon as much as the next guy, but Bezos is an 18 carat jerk.

The Washington Compost has become even more left wing since he bought it.

He worships his money and power, and he worships himself.

He is a Globalist who wants to destroy the Constitution.

File an anti-trust suit against Lex Luthor.

Trump should break them up under anti-Trust laws. That would fix them.

I live in the sticks. I live by amazon.

That is changing. I can use individual retailers and it will cost me, but it cost a lot of Americans their lives to protect the freedom I enjoy. The least I can do is put up with a little inconvenience.

Will be cancelling our Prime account.

Fantastic... so when we have another terrorist attack as a result of an unvetted “refugee”, we know who to point fingers at.

Dang! I can get everything I need from other places than Amazon, except for books on my Kindle. Oh well, I guess I’ll just pay a few dollars more and get hard or soft backs again. They are easier to share anyway.

I’m seeing more and more how the progressive-left state, massive debt, massive spending, and large crony capitalists ALL seem to have their interests aligned.

What shocking to me is how blatant and in-your-face this American style crony-capitalist-fascism has become.

No one even bothers to pretend it doesn’t exist any longer.

"Trump’s travel ban"???? It's not a "travel ban" it's prevention of enemy invasion into America, stupid.

NYP = New York Poop

The Lying Leftist Media. They are presumed to be lying and we should assume that what they publish is a lie. The presumption can only be rebutted with the outlet providing clear and convincing evidence they are not lying.

The NYP are LIARS.

I think Trump had mentioned more than once that Amazon is probably afoul of the anti trust laws. Now that Sessions is over at Justice, I would expect the anti trust division may be receiving a prod to take a look at them.

I’d love to see it happen and the look on the face of their chief counsel as he gets shown the door for opening his mouth. One thing I was always taught by my coaches was don’t gloat or make your opponent look bad after a play. Bezos and this jerk made a score on the first play, not the last play in OT.

I find it a bit disingenuous of CEOs like Bezos who are claiming they’re against the travel ban because it’s discriminatory when all they’re really worried about are their H1B (aka slave-wage) workers being able to get here.

The left protects immigrants (legal or not) because they are votes, and votes are power. So what if we have to tolerate a few terror attacks? The important things are protect the snail fish, allow abortion and GLBT rights.

We realized Amazon imports tons of merchandise (mostly from communist China, that being the way things have gotten throughout our once-great country)

but
importing Moslem terrorists into USA?

is this what people patronize Amazon to do????????????

(where are the shareholders’ suits, for goodness’ sakes!??)

While he's at it, Trump should have a look at Google, Facebook and Microsoft...

Somehow I can’t help but think that whatever restrictions the President ends up getting thought will make the overturned ban look mild.

When INS raids Amazon and hauls away half their workforce and files RICO charges against the Corp. for aiding criminals and committing Federal Tax Fraud for using false SSI #s let’s see how big a smile this RAT has.

While votes might be important, there is a far more important principle at stake. That principle is discrimination

To separate the sheep from the goats there must be discrimination. That is, a profile or profiles must be created from which decisions can be made based on various determinable and less than determinable facts.

Someone must discriminate to cull the objectionables.

To discriminate against those wanting to come in follows by extension that there can be discrimination within. When that happens, the black pressure for extended civil rights logically falls apart. It is ok to profile Travon and karisha
