Trump goes after former POW McCain after he criticizes botched Yemen raid: 'He's been losing so long he doesn't know how to win anymore'

Senator John McCain said the op 'cannot be labeled a success' because a Seal and an American girl died

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Wednesday that the raid was 'absolutely a success' despite McCain's comments

Said criticizing Yemen mission does 'disservice' to dead Navy SEAL

President Donald Trump tore into Arizona Sen. John McCain this morning, claiming that the former prisoner of war has been 'losing so long he doesn't know how to win anymore.'

McCain and Trump have never seen eye-to-eye on foreign policy, and the Republican senator has been especially critical of the president's first special op, a raid in Yemen on an al Qaeda affiliate.

The White House has repeatedly said the assault was a 'success,' even though a Navy SEAL and an eight-year-old American girl died in the crossfire.

'While many of the objectives of the recent raid in Yemen were met, I would not describe any operation that results in the loss of American life as a success,' McCain rebutted.

Trump said Thursday morning that McCain should keep his opinions to himself - criticism of the operation 'only emboldens the enemy!' Yemen withdrew permission for some US Special Ops missions on Tuesday Decision comes after the botched raid that killed Yemeni civilians on January 29 Trump's first military order as president killed Navy SEAL William 'Ryan' Owens Yemen's ambassador said their cooperation shouldn't come at Yemen's expense

I know what he means. D Day was a horrible failure. A blunder of epic proportions. Because Americans died. Right?

Yeah, uh, so much for any war ever fought.

It’s terrible he died, and it is brutal loss to the family, that’s for sure.

But 1 death, as terrible as it is, does not mean a mission wasn’t a success.

McCain has gotten a lot of respect and many “passes” on his views/actions because of his former POW status. It’s now gotten to the point that his former status has morphed into a “POW card”, very similar to the “race card”. It’s used as a weapon and a free pass to any destructive position/comments he cares to make. He should have been retired years ago.

There needs to be strong continuing push-back against these dishonest MSM memes that the raid was “botched” etc. Ofc you go in wanting surprise, but the fact that it turns into a firefight does not mean it was “botched” - I have not seen anything to suggest that the US side “botched” anything.

IF a bunch of AL Qaeda types were killed and IF some valuable intel was collected then that sounds like a successful raid. OF COURSE we want no casualties on our side, but military realities do not always offer zero-casualty outcomes, do they?

John Lewis is the equivalent.Just because you marched with King doesn’t mean you can lie and use the race card every chance you get.

McCain is a fool. He has become senile and unable to rationally think. In war, someone usually dies. This bastard should be thrown out of the party.

To count a military mission as a success or a failure on the basis of whether a member of our armed forces lost their lives, or an innocent civilian is a flawed analysis from the beginning.

Men are lost, and innocent people are often killed as a result of military operations. It is inherent in the nature of warfare.

People who judge a mission based on that are either ignorant, stupid, have an agenda, or all three.

I just watched a documentary on the famous Israeli commando raid at Entebbe (1976). They rescued 102 hostages, killing a bunch of terrorists and some of Idi Amin’s soldiers in the firefight.

ONE Israeli officer was lost, the older brother of Bibi Netanyahu.

Is McVain to describe that as a “botched” and unsuccessful raid because the Israelis suffered a tragic loss of life???? That would be an idiotic position to take, of course. That raid was an enormous success.

I am all for hitting back. This “my esteemed colleague” crap is a one way ratchet for people to attack someone politically and instead of fighting back and shoving it in their faces, you roll over and expose your underbelly.

GW Bush did this for eight years, and it drove me crazy.
