Not seeing any real indication of cause, but most of the news sites I am looking at are in French, and my French is quite rusty.
According to the Mail there is no threat of a nuclear leak, the incident is described “a significant technical event but it is not a nuclear accident”.
Hundreds have joined protests against the reactor, which is due to be turned on in 2018 after costing an estimated 10.5bn (£9bn).

Good to hear that they don’t seem worried about contamination.
What I am seeing in French seems to me to suggest that this isn’t that bad - injury numbers seem lower than the news report I’ve posted as details firm up. I hope that’s because they are accounting for people as safe, and not just because they haven’t found injured yet. But as I say my French is rusty and not all that technical.
