President Barack Obama's birthday may become the next state holiday, if some Illinois Democrats have their way.
House Bills 231 and 503 and Senate Bill 55 all make Obama's birthday, Aug. 4, an official holiday.
Both House bills would make Aug. 4 a "legal holiday," in which state government offices shut down, and schools and businesses have the option of closing. The Senate bill's "Barack Obama Day" would be commemorative only.
Rep. Andre Thapedi, a Chicago Democrat who is sponsoring HB 231, had tried making Obama's birthday a state holiday last year, but the bill stalled in a House committee.
Thapedi said this year's legislation has a much better chance of being passed into law.
"This bill is even stronger this year now that Obama is no longer in the White House," he said. "Last year, there were some concerns, honoring a sitting president. Now that he's no longer a sitting president, it's even more appropriate."

If I get the day off to piss on his grave, it will be my favorite holiday. If chubaka is next to him, that’s just gravy.
Soon, everyday will be a holiday for government workers!!
Will those with seniority, stay home and be paid, while a less senior employee has to show up, not actually work?
The work will be done by contractors, maybe.

which was posted in the first week of Obama’s first term after he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for doing absolutely nothing?
