These people are a transparent as anything. They will do and say anything to keep their jobs. It is important for the “new top management” in these agencies to determine the true character of their senior people. Better still, just fire them, it’s much safer.
I did some work at a government research site around the time Obama was first elected. I asked them if they had to worry about their jobs.
“No - we’ll do the same stuff we always did. [They did water-borne research] But now instead of testing water for terrorist threats or harbor development, it will be doing environmental surveys and global warming stuff.”
Of course that was guys lower on the totem pole - but I’m guessing these professional bureaucrats just want to keep their jobs. Although at some point all of these top people should be replaced with people that are passionate about the cause, and doing their best, rather than just changing the nouns on forms in triplicate.
Don’t forget GCA and the Hughes Amendment.
