Kremlin says it wants apology from Fox News over Putin comments
Reuters ^ | 02/06/17

The Kremlin said on Monday it wanted an apology from Fox News over what it said were "unacceptable" comments one of the channel's presenters made about Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly described Putin as "a killer" in the interview with Trump as he tried to press the U.S. president to explain more fully why he respected his Russian counterpart. O'Reilly did not say who he thought Putin had killed.

"We consider such words from the Fox TV company to be unacceptable and insulting, and honestly speaking, we would prefer to get an apology from such a respected TV company," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

Fox News and O'Reilly did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Trump's views on Putin are closely scrutinized in the United States where U.S. intelligence agencies have accused Moscow of having sponsored computer hacking to help Trump win office, and critics say he is too complimentary about the Russian leader.

Trump, when commenting on the allegations against Putin in the same interview, questioned how "innocent" the United States itself was, saying it had made a lot of its own mistakes. That irritated some Congressional Republicans who said there was no comparison between how Russian and U.S. politicians behaved.

They like Putin for stopping the homosexuals in Russia.

Now that is Fake News. Has he shut any of the gay bars in Moscow? Heck, he probably frequents them.

It was very stupid of O’Reilly to call Putin a killer and put The President of the USA on the spot.

I believe that the media is going to misconstrue anything that Trump says.

Trump was replying to Bill's "killer" comment. Bill was basically saying that Putin was very dangerous and we should be careful.

Trump was saying what a macho New Yorker would say: "what are we chopped liver?" He said "we are not innocents.

He was not apologizing or accusing. He was standing up for our country by stating that we are a country to be reckoned also.

Yet the left loves Islamic jihad invaders and welcomes them into every town and city in the USA

And they treat homosexuals a lot worse than Russia does.

Leftists “women rights” faction loves muslims too.

The Koran shows how women should be treated.

As chattel and ok to beat them if they break sharia law or speak back to their husband.

Trump needs to clean up his act on Russia already; he’s setting himself up for trouble should the Democrats gain seats in ‘18. But I do like the idea of separating Russia from Iran; it would stop their Islamic asses, protect Israel, and also erode Russia’s general influence.

Yeah, I figured my comment would generate a personal attack.

In any case, I still have my copy of Moscow in Your Pocket, from my last visit.

In a larger sense, I simply pointed out that Putin is not "...stopping the homosexuals in Russia...," as you so naively believe. It's almost a Russian tragedy, in a way . . . for you to make such a stupid comment.

I don’t see the problem with using the Kremlin. The Kremlin is the Russian equivalent of the White House-it’s a generic term. If they’re playing it to conjure up cold war bad feelings, it’s not going to work.

BOR in every interview he’s ever had with Trump tries to get him to either say something stupid or provocative that the liberals, and that includes Fox, can run with. He’s a media whore and nothing else. He also talks down to Trump and and it makes no difference that he’s now president.

BOR is a media prostitute, and was trying to create a controversial soundbite.

The irony is that the Saudi King is the biggest shareholder of News Corp (Fox News) after Murdoch. .....

..... Last I saw was that it was only about 10%.

That's not accurate. Saudi King never had investment in News Corp / Fox Entertainment Group.

One of the more than 100 Saudi princes, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who is very prominent as an investor via his financial vehicle Kingdom Holding Company, had 6.6% of pre-split News Corp, but by the end of 2014 has sold most of his B-shares in post-split News Corp (NWS) leaving him with only 1% stake in News Corp, while keeping entire 6.6% stake in the new 21st Century Fox (FOX) which had spun off from its parent NWS in 2013.

Rupert Murdoch and his family has about 39.5% of the voting power in News Corp., while only holding 14% of ownership in the company, due to dual-class shareholder structure of the company, same as with Fox. Many companies that are run by the founders have similar structures, e.g. GOOGL / Alphabet, Facebook, CBS / Viacom etc.

The selling of News Corp shares was done mostly throughout first half of 2014, "to rebalance portfolio" and reduce exposure to several lawsuits against News Corp. in UK related to "spying on employees" which ended with both News Corp and 21 century Fox cleared of charges.

I'm sorry, I meant it as a smart aleck comment, not a personal insult. And, I know many here liked Putin for publicly fighting the gays (even if it was fake).

Hillary Clinton on Gaddafi: We came, we saw, he died

If I was forced to choose to live under the same roof with either Hillary or Putin I would have to choose Putin....I'm serious.

Yes, Putin has undoubtedly had people killed.

I don't doubt that for a second.

Leading a large nation is not like a tea party...it's serious business.

Here is a list of people responsible for deaths.

Bush (both of them)
Hillary (and Bill)
Obama
Carter
Nixon
Lyndon Johnson (the worst of this lot)
Kennedy
Eisenhower
etc

Like I said, it's serious business... I could not do it.

Here are several reports on Putin’s possible culpability in killing masses of people to gain power or promote war in Chechnia.

This was written last year by the conservative Hudson Inst.: https://hudson.org/research/12507-how-putin-became-president

This report may be older. Could not see a date: https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Russian_apartment_bombings

This article was written by a man who actually went to Russia shortly after the bombings to investigate on the ground. He points out that 4 investigative journalists from Russia were murdered in the following years:

I can’t stand O’Reilly. He such a pompous fake jackass. I remember back during the Bush vs Kerry election. He was running his mouth about Kerry and when he gets him on his shows he kisses up to him and never asked him anything. I guess the idea was to be nice so he would have white house access in the event Kerry one.

Then, when it came out he was a pervert making calls late at night to a staffer that was it for me.

I wish he would go away.

O'Reilly is a pompous egotistical ass who likes to make everything about himself.

I predicted that when his show came on for the first time after the interview showed, that he would be gloating about how important he is.

IMO he did just that when he said the Putin asked him to apologize.

Nothing of the kind happened.

The Kremlin asked Fox News to apologize.

Even though B'O thinks HE is Fox News, he isn't.

He is just an overrated narcissistic egocentric TV host who uses his popularity to push his own agenda, including with his *ahem* attitude towards women.

Here is a thread posted at FR with the truth, different from B'O's twisting from the truth (Spin from the 'no' spin zone):

Kremlin says it wants apology from Fox News over Putin comments

Here is a tweet from 8:54 PM - 6 Feb 2017 :
Here is a comment of mine from yesterday afternoon:

O’Reilly is lower than a snake

The question was designed to make Trump look bad.

And give BOR attention.

He doesn’t care what the negative outcome is, as long as his name gets platered all over the place.

Today’s factor show will probably have him gloating at wat a good job he did embarrassing Trump; all the while making him look like an alt-Left troll.
