The Mexican government on Wednesday vehemently denied reports that President Trump threatened to send American soldiers into Mexico during a phone call with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

Such a threat “did not happen during that call,” said a government statement released on Twitter Wednesday night.

"I know it with absolute certainty, there was no threat,” Peña Nieto spokesman Eduardo Sanchez said in a radio interview. “The things that have been said are nonsense and a downright lie."

The Associated Press and a Mexican news website, Aristegui Noticias, reported earlier in the day that Trump had humiliated Peña Nieto during a phone call between the leaders on Friday. . .

This is AP’s purported “Trump transcript”:

“You have a bunch of bad hombres down there,” Trump told Pena Nieto, according to the excerpt given to AP. “You aren’t doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared. Our military isn’t, so I just might send them down to take care of it.”

So now the AP is actually making up quotes and reporting them as news - as opposed to making up stories and crediting them to unidentified sources.

This is all for public consumption, very possibly to see how the public reacts.
No one knows for sure what exactly is going on behind the scenes. That’s one reason most noted sources in publications and news outlets are “anonymous or generally unspecified”, who can’t be verified, and, then, we have one-liner tweets from various people adding fuel to fire (hysteria), later changing their story and their ‘misinterpretation’.

ABC NEWS ran the story that Trump hung up on the Australian PM but in the same story said Australia denied it.

This is how they’ll do the lying news from here on. Run the main accusation then say “but it’s possible it didn’t happen”.

Mexican Navy ships frequently dock in San Diego for the weekend. I don't see what the big deal is.

Now those Mexican soldiers that ride into southern Texas towns, that's something else entirely. I'm for gunning those vehicles to pieces.

Isn’t it interesting that at this point in time we have the benefit of instant communication though the use of the Internet... And the left is taking this opportunity to use this amazing vehicle to disseminate outright lies and propaganda.

Yes, exactly. 20 years ago, the left didn't have that luxury. Today, well, is a completely different story. Social media: Twitter, FB, Instagram, Youtube, etc.. all good when you can use them efficiently & effectively.

But, they can also be misused.

The scary part is they can reach millions across the world, (fake news & images), 'instant gratification' delivered directly to your phone & inbox.

Most don't bother verifying if news is real or not. Most IF can emotionally connect to it will buy it & pass it on. That's why so many stories (political or not) constantly 'go viral'.

Extremely dangerous and wide-open to misuse and abuse.
