Media: Donald Trump Is Gaslighting Us

Concerned members of the media claim that President Donald Trump is abusing them psychologically in order to drive them insane, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Pundits say that Trump and his henchman are "gaslighting" them, taking a cue from a Teen Vogue article that CNN's Don Lemon called "hard hitting." The term comes from the 1944 movie Gaslight, where a malevolent husband (Charles Boyer) tricks his wife (Ingrid Bergman) into believing she is nuts.

"[Gaslighting is] a form of psychological abuse where the victim is manipulated to doubt their own sanity," said Lauren Duca, author of the Teen Vogue article.

This idiot is just trying to sound intellectual by making a not so obscure reference. But it totally does not apply. Gaslighting was done by playing small tricks on the victim to cause them to question their own sanity. Then take advantage when they are in a mentally weakened condition.

Libs just scream and rant and they never doubt themselves. If only.

It is somewhat amusing that these types of people are our “leaders”. Yet, at a more important level, it is pathetic that these people are allowed to have any authority or responsibility. Such pathetic losers. I’d change the descriptor from “leaders” to “lunatics”.

It’s easy to gaslight a group whose average IQ is around 35 points lower than the Trumpster.

Go to it, marshmallow majors.

He, the President, does not have to that, you, the media are there already and have done such all by yourself.

OK, I want to know who started this ‘gaslighting’ nonsense. Did this come out in DNC talking points to the media, to bring this term up in every dang story about President Trump?

Gaslighting. Isn’t that what college boys and rednecks do with lighters after a night of drinking?

No it was gas lighting to convince Trump suppporters they were alone in an island. No one thought like they did, they were all insane. Everyone supporter Hillary. She was going to win by a landslide if your thought outerwise you are insane.

It's a fine distinction, I'll admit.

Astroturfing is generally meant to mean a popular uprising, like the Tea Party, was really faked to make people believe the groundswell is real. A recent example might be the boycott of Rush Limbaugh's advertisers over his Sandra Fluke comments.

Gaslighting is in the vein of "who do you believe, me or your lying eyes?" We saw the difference in rally turnout but were told that Trump was universally hated. We saw debate performances but were told that Trump lost. We saw Trump everywhere and Clinton nowhere but were told she was just preparing.

So maybe they astroturfed the polls and gaslighted the coverage?

I think President Trump is giving the nutjobs something to think about other than making fun of little 10 year old Barron. I hope their heads explode.

Bizzaro world has nothing on them. Trump has no time to play games—he’s too busy saving the nation. Mark my words—soon a great crisis will come and we will be glad we have Trump in the White House—and I will go out on a limb—in that dark day Putin’s Russia will pull our chestnuts out of the fire at just the right moment.

I guess it just depends on perspective.

I viewed the polls and all the reporting around Trump as Gaslighting, and it is still is to this day for the most part.. every story is negative.. you wouldn’t think that the man won the election based on headlines, everything he does, is offered as negative in nearly every press outlet... So they continue to portray those who support(ed) the man as non existent... If all you saw was the MSM you would think that no one supports this man... which is gaslighting.. questioning your own observations and sanity.... Like 31,000+ showing up for a rally in MI on election morning at 1am, but he’s going to be clobbered...

I really don’t see astroturfing as much with the campaign because there was no attempt to portray Hillary’s clearly organized support as grass roots ever... not that I ever saw... Overstated her support yes, ignored the support for her opponent absolutely, but never saw her support being portrayed as some grass roots thing... she was the heir to the system, and the systems candidate all along.

Either way, the lies and deception and bias will just keep continuing.

The one place I have and still do see astroturfing are with these protests, where paid agitators and professional organizations are whipping up folk and bussing in folks... That’s absolutely astroturfing

There is always a crisis, you don’t get through 4 years as the leader of the free world without something you can’t control showing up and changing the focus.

Right now, we basically just have a whole lot of sour grapes and spiteful folks throwing temper tantrums.. they aren’t serious people... and the fact Trump just keeps on rolling just irks them even more.. they are so used to the alinsky model where if we can just get a few people to scream loud enough people will cave, that they have no idea how to deal with the fact that they are now the ones being mocked and are ignored.. the louder they scream the less relevant they become. Trump won’t cave to them and they have no idea how to handle it.

Bunch of snowflakes... and so now the cracks in their world view/reality will start to set in and they will have to come to grips that what they believed to be reality was nothing more than self delusion. So they will think they are being gas lit, when in fact, they are just being forced to deal with reality because the days of folks pandering to their delusions are over.
