Calif. To Consider Enacting Statewide Sanctuary

California may prohibit local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities, creating a border-to-border sanctuary in the nation’s largest state as legislative Democrats ramp up their efforts to battle President Donald Trump’s migration policies.

The legislation is scheduled for its first public hearing Tuesday as the Senate rushes to enact measures that Democratic lawmakers say would protect immigrants from the crackdown that the Republican president has promised.

While many of California’s largest cities — including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento — have so-called sanctuary policies that prohibit police from cooperating with immigration authorities, much of the state does not.

The Democratic legislation, written by Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles, comes up for debate less than a week after Trump signed an order threatening to withdraw some federal grants from jurisdictions that bar officials from communicating with federal authorities about someone’s immigration status.

The Senate Public Safety Committee considers SB54 Tuesday morning. The Judiciary Committee will also consider fast-tracked legislation that would spend state money, in an amount that has not been disclosed, to provide lawyers for people facing deportation.

Some Republicans have criticized the Democratic reaction to Trump’s policies, saying bombastic rhetoric and provocative legislation will inflame tensions with the president and harm California.

The debate over sanctuary cities reached a fevered pitch in 2015 after Kate Steinle, 32, was fatally shot in the back Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who was in the country illegally after multiple deportations to his native Mexico. Lopez-Sanchez, who told police the gun fired by accident, had been released from a San Francisco jail despite a request from federal immigration authorities that he be held in custody for possible deportation. Trump often cited the Steinle case during the campaign.

Many other cities and counties in California also refuse to detain immigrants for deportation agents out of legal concerns after a federal court ruled that immigrants can’t be held in jail beyond their scheduled release dates. Since then, federal agents have been asking local law enforcement agencies to provide information about immigrants they’re seeking for deportation, if not hold them.

“Cut off the water.”

The new state of Jefferson produces the food, electricity, natural gas and controls the water.

The New State of Jefferson could stop all of the above from going into the sanctuary cities starting with cutting off the water to Gay Frisco, but shutting down Hetch Hechy. I’m sure that some water from up N California gets into La Raza La.

Cut off the food, power and other resources going from the State of Jefferson to the sanctuary cities/counties for some real life reality.

Make an example out of SF now, nip this in the bud. Cut off every dollar from the feds including social security, military and government retirements, public safety, transportation, every single dollar. Tell them they can have it their way but not with our dime.

No offense intended, merely imagining a possible future given the utter insanity that has taken hold, seemingly everywhere. There will no doubt be consequences should California actually become a sanctuary STATE. I certainly hope not. Perhaps I should have added a sarcasm tag.

Hummingbird Nest Halts Upgrades On Richmond-San Rafael Bridge [Bay Area, CA]
CBS SF Bay Area ^ | January 30, 2017 7:54 PM | Phil Matier

A little bird could become a big hold up for important upgrades on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. A path on the upper deck will enable bike riders to get across in both directions and a third traffic lane on the lower deck will ease congestion for drivers heading eastbound.

The backhoes are waiting — the safety barriers are lined to go up — but thanks to a little winged friend, work on a key part of the $70 million Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Bridge re-do has been put on hold.

Randy Rentschler, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission said, “In this particular case a bird’s nest was found.” Not just any bird — but a protected bird — and one with an egg waiting to hatch.

Rentschler said, “Hummingbirds are on the list, so the followed the rules.” …

There is no shortage of Hummingbirds in N. California.

TO: GOVENOR “MOONBEAM” BROWN

The first person who dies as a result of this hysterical plan to rule that the whole state will become a sanctuary .. proves the point that the LEFT/DEMOCRATS ARE NOT COMPETENT TO HOLD ANY OFFICE, OR RULE OVER ANY PERSON OR THING IN THE STATE OF CA.

WHEN YOU ABANDON YOUR CITIZENS AND SUPPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS - WHO HAVE COMMITTED CRIMES AND WILL CONTINUE COMMITTING CRIMES BECAUSE OF YOUR ACTIONS - YOU ARE ABANDONING YOUR OATH TO PROTECT THE RESIDENTS OF YOUR STATE.

CA CITIZENS: HOW ABOUT A RE-CALL ELECTION .. SINCE THE CURRENT GOVERNOR IS NOT FIT TO HOLD THE OFFICE ..??????

That is an excellent suggestion!

If the federal government creates a federal cause of action against state and local officials in their individual capacity who violate federal laws, that will allow citizens to pursue financial claims on their own.

It’s about time that state and local officials who create deadly threats against society should pay out of their own bank accounts for their wanton behavior.

“But in recent years prosecutors have applied RICO to government officials accused of using their govt offices for personal gain and if trade, the state’s economy and interstate commerce are harmed.”

Put them all in jail.

So, does this mean that I don’t have to obey California laws I don’t like either? Yeah, I know that the State has a man with a gun that will force me to obey, but suppose that I resist. Am I justified, seeing as the State of CA proposes not to obey laws it doesn’t like?

Trump should issue an executive order commending Obama’s orders not to enforce the borders for that one state as part of a experiment in the role op the states as a laboratory of democracy.

And realign the enforcement stations to go along the Kalifornia borders with the other contiguous states instead of the border with Mexico.

> Awesome. We can watch California become a Caliphate, then descend into tribal muzzie wars. Maybe by then we can wall it off as well, or watch God intervene and dump it into the ocean. A little planetary hiccup, compliments of San Andreas.

If it can be done without destroying therest of the U.S. and the lower half only be affected works for me...: )

And let us see how long this will last. Jerry Brown and his gang of lawbreakers against the Federal government. Bring it on.

Treason. So what? Think anything will be done? Nothing but hold funds. What a solution. How about taking over the Government of California and charge treason.

Do people realize that this would mean an OPEN CA BORDER - No Border Patrol. Anybody would be able to just walk in .. because there would not be any FEDERAL PROTECTION AGAINST IT.

Really ..?? No federal anything .. no federal money to run jails .. so who watches over the inmates; are they just allowed to go free ..?? Thousands of lost jobs.

Really ..?? Schools depend on FEDERAL MONEY .. now there would be none .. how will the Teacher’s Unions survive if they don’t have those funds ..??? Hundreds of lost jobs.

People need to rethink this .. because you may think it means FREEDOM .. when it actually hinders Federal dollars into the State; No FBI, No Military units; meaning all military bases would be closed (millions of lost jobs).

WAKE UP PEOPLE ..!!!!
