The US Supreme Court has held differently on several occasions.
They are being evaluated by a competent authority as to their status of entry—it’s not as if they are being indefinitely detained without recourse.
Sleazy liberal lawyers have done more harm to our nation than just about any group. They’re leeches on society.
The City of Los Angeles owns LAX.
Can you cite an example that does not include a green card holder?
this guy has some odd opinions about the authority of the federal judiciary.
More WINNING!
This city attorney is undoubtedly a “sanctuary city” type, who wouldn’t lift a finger to get into an immigration scrape with the feds, but is all a*holes and elbows to insert himself into a federal matter when it suits his agenda.
My son-in-law was detained repeatedly over a 10-year period, with his non-US passport and green card in hand. It was a glitch in the system, just like this airport detention thing is. We didn’t call for a city attorney to investigate, just steamed a little and said thank you when things were cleared up.
The city attorney appears to be acting beyond the authority of his office.
Yick Wo v. Hopkins (1886)
Wong Win v. United States (1896)
Almeida-Sanchez v. United States (1973)
Plyler v. Doe (1982)
Wasn;t it the Libs that kept saying Immigration is A federal issue. Re: Joe Arpaio
What do you foresee happening on all of this?
All of the cases you cite deal with rights under criminal law once present in the US.
None deal with criteria applied to entry.
But I suppose a lawyer is going to try to leverage them.
Yes!
Oh look. Another Soros panic puppet and this time its a city attorney. How cute.
After a few days, nothing. People will be stopped at overseas airports. New visas will be denied. DHS said today that green card holders can return (an exemption). The ruling in NYC forbade removal, but did not permit entry. I suspect those here or enroute when the executive order was signed will be allowed to stay. Later, anybody else who shows up will be removed after a hearing.
International airports are ports of entry (into USA), which is why TSA is there. The airport portal, is Federal territory and therefore Federal jurisdiction.
Thanks.
Fedora,
