‘Calexit’ organizers get permission to gather petition signatures for California to secede
New York Daily News ^ | January 27, 2017 | By Nancy Dillon

California is one step closer to possible secession.

Supporters of the so-called “Calexit” movement got the green light late Thursday to begin collecting the 585,407 voter signatures needed to get an initiative on the November 2018 ballot.

The group behind the proposal, known as Yes California, now has six months to collect and submit the signatures, according to California's Secretary of State Alex Padilla.

Yes California started back in 2015 but exploded with a groundswell of support — and the catchy #Calexit hashtag — in the days following President Donald Trump’s election.

“California and America are different cultures, very different. Donald Trump never would have been a candidate here, not even a party nominee. Do we need more evidence than that?” Yes California spokesman Marcus Ruiz Evans told the Daily News Friday.

He argued California is an economic powerhouse that subsidizes dozens of southern and midwestern states that don't share its values. He said the Golden State’s own crumbling highways, bridges, levees and schools should get that money instead.

“We're pumping out billions to other states. That's colony status,” he said Friday. . .

So California granted Californians the right to waste time on a 100% symbolic tantrum?

They must pay their share of the national debt before they depart. Then they must pay for the wall around the new Republik of Kalifornia. And then bye bye

Add another thousand miles of border for illegals to get into the U.S. if this happens. Probably what they’re thinking...

They can take their terrible schools (49 out of 50); welfare dependent population (by one estimate as high as 30 percent); dependency on the mountains and adjoining states for water and electricity; with the goofballs in Hollywood and San Francisco, what a wonderful country it would be. We will keep the farm country, northern third, and San Diego.

Given Cali's very LOOSE voting eligibility..., this could very well pass. The "Civil War" that results will be between the vast areas of Cali East of the Pacific and the "New Mexico North" of the invaded Western State! The "Snowflakes" will vote "For" than flee Eastward to safety!

Something tells me that we, in NV, are going to be getting a lot of new neighbors.

The education in Kali must be pathetic. Otherwise, they’d know that the REAL reason for the Civil war was about state’s rights to secede from the union. Turns out, they didn’t have that right. Neither does Kali.

I think the combination of Leftist control and a large Mexican population (edging toward a majority) makes conflict with CA inevitable. Some other states might try to seceded too. It may well lead to a real Civil War.

I give them 10 years and they will be owned (debt slaves) by the Chinese and the streets of Juarez will be safer than the streets of LA.

If California secedes the good people outside the populated areas should pull a West Virginia and secede from the new nation of California. That way California will just be a few democrat voting precincts.

After they leave, we should build a wall along their border and make them pay for it.
