The latest broadside came after his boss also accused the media of dishonesty.
It follows the publication of photos appearing to show a marked difference in crowd numbers between the inauguration of Barack Obama and president Trump’s swearing in on Friday.
Dismissing the images, Spicer refused to take any questions from journalists during his first formal press briefing.
“This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration period, both in person and around the globe….. These attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are shameful and wrong,” Spicer said.
On Saturday, more than 500,000 people marched in Washington DC to highlight women’s rights, which many fear are under threat from the new administration.
Millions also demonstrated in other US cities, and around the world, in so called ‘‘sister marches’‘.
Some 400,000 hit the streets of New York.
In response, Donald Trump took to twitter.
Highlighting the fact that there had been a recent election he said ‘‘Why didn’t these people vote.’‘

The lead on this so called story is all rehash. Who cares?
Whatever the crowd size, the photo they’ve been using is taken earlier before swearing in so there is dishonesty there from the press. There’s a pic of Trump at the podium that looks out onto the mall and it’s more filled than that photo.

Obama required no security checks or passes. Trump did because of the anarchists. Leftists also blocked the transportation in DC and delayed people arriving.

The press is in freak out mode because they’ve lost all credibility.
Here’s the deal. I watched the damned thing on TV and saw a huge crowd. Trump challenged this thing because he wanted to let the media know that even small lies weren’t going to be tolerated. The media did this to Bush 2 for his entire administration and it cost this county. There is no such thing as an unbiased media, the best you can do is aggressively hound them with facts.
It was first tweeted out at a little after 9 AM Eastern time. It's bogus. There are several copies floating around with the 9:02AM Eastern Time Stamp but the news media will not report on them. They are insistent it was posted at a little after noon.

It’s inconceivable to me that there aren’t security helicopter pictures of the crowd on a minute-by-minute basis. Where are those?
Or satellite pictures, or amateur pictures.
It should be easy to decide this crowd-size question.

Don’t know if there’s been any more feedback on the clock in the tower at the Smithsonian that showed after 1 pm. The picture was all one segment and scrollable so it was authentic. The media’s picture was definitely an early or late crowd picture and not one taken while the oath and speech were going on. One FReeper said they had a son or someone there and would ask them to check the time on the clock and see if it’s working...
They LIED!!! There is a clock in the sparse photo that doesn’t jibe with the times on the watch in the big pixel photo.
It’s not about his crowds, I don’t care who had the bigger crowd.

The clock on the tower is broken.
The Park Service was taken over by the Left long ago. They have consistently undercounted crowds at conservative events, such as pro-life marches. This generated so much controversy that I believe they were eventually forced to stop making official estimates. Even so, they are apparently releasing photos without providing clear documentation such as time stamps.
Perhaps the mischief at the Park Service began when the Clinton administration politicized every agency. I don't believe GWBush did anything to clean it up.
There’s no way of knowing unless they show more photos. Also, a lot of Obama’s supporters don’t work, so they were able to attend his.
