That’s a FAIL.

That tarrif will just be passed along to US consumers.

Tax these bits going the other ways please.

Very nice. There are numerous ways to make Mexico pay, indirectly.

$26B per year goes south to Mexico in currency transfers every year. 20% tax on that and the self-deportation will begin.

I think that’s what Trump’s had in mind the whole time. To curtail any behavior, tax it.

A tariff is a great idea and should be across the board and not just from product form Mexico.

OK, this is the first decision where I have to break from Trump. This is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea that only punishes the American worker and American taxpayer.

Mexico gets taxed on NOTHING in this case. This is not the way to get this done.

But Mexicans expressed shock and dismay as Trump moved to turn his campaign promises into reality.

Yeah, cause they are used to politicians who lie through their teeth to get elected and then renege on every campaign promise they ever made.

Funding for the wall can come from the savings in welfare and food stamps, education and medical care the illegals will not be using as they are deported back home.

Sadly, California will benefit from increased avocado sales, but I guess I can live with that.

Well if Trump is putting a 20% import tax on Mexican goods then he is seriously considering getting out of NAFTA. You can’t have it both ways. Sounds like a plan to me.

in conversation with some Libs recently some suggested that the 20% tax Trump talked about would be paid by our consumers not mexico... this shut me up because in the past, raising taxes was always a thorn in my side because we do end up paying for it... someone explain to this dummy how Mexico would pay with a 20% tax trump is suggesting...?? please...

Trump spokesman Sean Spicer added a stunning new detail about the proposed wall project later Thursday, saying that Trump intended to pay for it by imposing a 20-percent tax on all imports from Mexico.

That and the headline is a lie.

I saw the interview, and the sentence started with, "For example..."

Mexico has vast oil and natural gas reserves. They are 35 years behind in the development of those.

Trump should “encourage” them to accelerate oil production especially offshore in Campeche Bay. He also should “encourage” them to contract with American company’s using American workers who have the technical expertise to do the work.

It would be a Win, Win. Mexico gains the revenue to pay for 10 walls. American company’s benefit from the work.

Cool beans.

Mexico would have

As a Texan, I seem to remember that Mexico invaded us at some point in the past. And Mexico has resources and could have been a dominant power but chose most recently to rely on drug cartels and money from their illegals.
