Trump’s Nominees Face ‘Unprecedented’ Democrat Obstructionism
The Daily Signal ^ | January 22, 2017 | Rob Bluey

Posted on 01/23/2017 7:31:43 AM PST by Perseverando

President Donald Trump starts his first full week in the White House with just two Cabinet secretaries confirmed by the U.S. Senate. That’s the lowest number in decades and a sharp contrast from former President Barack Obama.

Trump’s picks have fared worse than past Cabinet nominees. Even though Trump enjoys a Republican-led Senate, Democrats have kept their promise to delay confirmation of his nominees, even if they lack the votes to ultimately defeat them.

The Daily Signal reviewed Senate confirmation data for newly elected presidents, beginning with Jimmy Carter in 1977 through Obama in 2009. The chart above shows when the Senate confirmed each president’s Cabinet secretaries.

Also saw that. Trump is doing just fine. My bet is they will all be confimed this week. The Donald may have to Tweet the process along a bit though. 😀

Ace, Marco, Mitch and the other coward “Republican” Senators.

So it's more like "unprecedented Republican obstructionism" or, more likely, "unprecedented Republican incompetence". The Senate resumed work on January 3rd. They should have been holding hearings starting January 4th and the votes on all but two of the nominees should have been held January 20th. The only two nominees who should still be in committee are Perdue and Shulkin since they weren't nominated until January 19 and January 11 respectively. The rest were all announced well before Christmas. So if Trump can't hit the ground running then blame McConnell.

If they Bork his nominee then leave it open until the Dems have to cave.

If the Democrats block Trump's nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, then Trump should wait until the next Senate recess ... and then put a former pro wrestler in that spot. It will be a temporary appointment that only lasts until the end of 2017 or 2018 (I'm not sure how Senate sessions are listed on the calendar), so it would be perfect for a comical, half-assed nominee. It would show that Democrat obstructionism only diminishes the prestige of that institution.

OK so the Republicans control the Senate. The Republicans control the committees. The Republicans control the schedule for the committees. The Republicans decide when votes are held in the Senate. Why have they only voted on two nominees?

That' what I can't figure out. It seems like they MUST have Republican help in the obstruction but I don't have the ins and outs.

I blame Mitch McConnell, not Chuck Schumer for this blocking of trump cabinet nominees. Mcconnell owns and runs the senate. Imho...he is in with th likes of chuck schumer and the low life democrat scum & vermin!!! End of story!!! DJT.....get rid of McConnell today!!!

But the number of people attending Trump’s inauguration were less than Obama’s!

Please to not distract us from what is really important!

I’ve heard stories that the Republicans in the U.S. Senate were perfectly content to let the Democrats sink his nomination.

I wouldn't doubt it.

You can bet your ass that the Republicans are helping to obstruct the process. Unless you like being stabbed in the back, never, never, never trust or believe a Republican. This I relearned from experience. I knew that with Marco Rubio, yet, for reasons not even known to me, I voted for the son of a bitch. One of the first things he did when he got to D.C. was to attack Donald's nominee. I do not blame him for doing that because that is what he is. I blame myself for voting for the bastard, thus enabling him to be the rat he is.

Just call all the cabinet nominees “Czars” and let them fill the role.

No, this is exactly what the Rats want. Lower court rulings will stand because the SC is 4-4. Obama appointed a lot of the lower courts. It looks like they are going to have to go nuclear. I just don’t know if Mitch has the stones to do it.

It is not the Democrats that are responsible for the delays. It is the Republicans. They could put a stop to that crap immediately if they wanted.

Unprecedented in that most cabinets have been in place within the first week. You are talking about one person. This is whole sale dragging on top staff. Read the article. Look at the graphic
