Not sure if it’s the area you’re referring to, but there was an enormous section of the mall that had recently been seeded for grass and had been covered with a sheet of plastic. It was slippery for walking.
I think that’s true. When I saw the MSM’s side-by-side, the Trump photo was exactly what Fox was showing about 9 a.m. that morning.

There’s no timestamp, but it does look empty and it does look like people are starting to leave by the end. How does this reconcile with the other pictures we see?

It was brought out on the www that there were some areas with new grass planted, and those areas were roped off so the new grass wouldn’t be trampled

The government time-lapse video didn’t go all the way up to the start of the inauguration
It was a ploy to make it seem like Trump’s inauguration didn’t fill the area, which it most certainly did!
