Democrats in sad shape: Power deficit as Trump era begins

Democrats begin the Donald Trump presidency in sad shape. They lack a clear power base, they’ve got no distinct national leader, and party brokers are searching for a formula to counter the new Republican-dominated government and figure out how to win again.

It’s a curious and dispiriting position for a party that has led the national popular vote six out of the past seven presidential elections. Yet Hillary Clinton lost the Electoral College count, while Republicans maintained their largest House majority since 1928 and kept control of the Senate — with 2018 advantages that offer the potential of a Senate supermajority in two years.

Outside Washington, Democrats now have just 16 governors and run 14 state legislatures, compared to 33 Republican governors and 32 GOP-run legislative bodies.

“We haven’t been in this shape in a while … but we will rebuild,” insists interim Democratic Party Chairwoman Donna Brazile. …

Worse than the story lets on - Democrats have unified party control of only four state governments.

Donks have to share power in the other 12 they control.

And when you get down to the city and county level, their losses are even more striking.

The party has no bench to speak of and they’re heading into 2018 at their weakest.

That they’re truly a minority party is only beginning to dawn upon them.

Which is the true measure of Barack Obama’s legacy in 8 years as President.

Dear Donald Trump,
Please use the IRS to Defund the left.

Sincerely,

Remember when John Kasich had to cancel his big meeting with GOPe donors scheduled two days after the election on how to rebuild the ruins of a post Trump party?

I don't remember that, but I do remember when Hillary cancelled her big fireworks celebration a few days before the election. To save face, she claimed she called it off because of fire marshall concerns.

That was when I knew that whatever the publicized polls were saying, her internals told her something else.

Dems are wounded and wobbly, go for the throat. Finish them !

Outgoing Labor Secretary Tom Perez, viewed as Ellison's stiffest competitor

This jackass Perez , as the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights , made the call not to prosecute the New Black Panthers voter intimidation.

You mean importing all those votes didn’t help? Maybe it’s because they all live in those sanctuary cities

If the so-called “popular vote” was by legal voters, the number of House Representatives and the corresponding electoral votes would have been there to back them up. It wasn’t. Illegals.

Interestingly, to hear the Dem leaders explain it, they lost because they didn’t explain their positions clearly. In other words, the rubes didn’t get it, so we’ll have to dumb it down.

In reality, if you get up and go to work everyday, you would be a fool to vote for a Democrat.

No, Putin stole the election.

That’s why they punished Russia because it was easier than acknowledging American voters rejected them.

Democrats are not dealing with their real problem.

I pray that Trump uses every minute of his time to delegitimize and undo all the damage that odumbo and his demodummie ilk have done to this country. We have long needed a strong leader and I believe we now have one in President Trump. Certainly he will make mistakes, he is human, but in the end after 4 and possibly 8 years, America WILL INDEED BE GREAT AGAIN!

... You’d almost imagine that reporters have utterly ignored all those e-mails that detail exactly what the DNC believes are the hallmarks of leadership and rebuilding the party, so complete their lack of incorporating that into their stories.

“I am thoroughly disgusted by the National Chamber of Commerce.”

You misspoke, that’s the Chamber of Communists! Tom Donohue is an outright Commie Bastard! I can’t wait for Trump to put him in his place.

There haven’t been so-called “centrists” in the Democratic Party for a very long time. Which Democrats really opposed Wilson’s socialistic progressivism with Constitutionalism, when it got going? The Sixteenth and Seventeenth Amendments were of course only the start.
