How greedy will the Obamas be, once they are free to start making deals with speakers’ bureaus, book publishers, television broadcasters, movie producers, boards of directors, and other providers of part time and episodic employment of the most lucrative sort?
Most unfortunately for the plucky couple, the last Democrats to leave the White House gave a bad name to the shameless pursuit of wealth from megarich interests. So a man in his early fifties vitally concerned over his historical legacy might want to think twice about cashing in. But the Obamas have demonstrated a love of luxury, perhaps the product of childhood, adolescent and young adult frustrations over status deprivation. Many leftists I have known have been deeply envious of the wealth accumulated by entrepreneurs, in particular, which they see as greedy, mostly uneducated, and certainly unworthy of lording it over themselves, and enjoying financial security while they struggled.

I predict the book deals for Barack and Moochie will not be long in coming and will likely make the deals the Clintons got look like small potatoes.
Whatever the atomic unit of measure for the smallest unit of worry possible, worry not for them. They’ll be raking it in in perpetuity.
Billions and billions will be raked in. People will still pay to be seen with them. Hollywood will make a move. (The woman who played “Kelly” on KING OF QUEENS will play Michelle.) And anyone who questions it will be called a racist and shunned.
I still say the democrat politicians are not the greatest threat to this country. It’s the idiot/liars who vote for them.
“Book sales” are a great way to money launder right into politicians’ pockets. Criminals.
The money going to the Obama’s personally isn’t the problem. The money going to organizations Obama works with will be the big issues.
More money for riots, arson, and worse (think Ferguson, Baltimore, Dallas, etc). That money with Obama’s “community organizing” experience and his friends like Sharpton and Ayers is scary.
Republicans too - only not so In-Your-Face as the Clintons.
Winning a senate seat is even better than holding a winning lottery tiicket.
For starters, they all become millionaires.
Don't forget - they heve exempted themselves from the anti-trust laws regarding staock trades so are allowed to do insider trading .
They make the rules and laws, they know which companies will benefit and which will suffer, so buy and sell stocks accordingly.
It's like being able to read the business news a week or month in advance.

The Congressional Research Service reports that for requests for both 2016 and 2017 fiscal years, Obama's proposed federal budget would expand funding through the Former Presidents Act. In 2017 alone, Obama wants nearly an 18% hike in expenditures… $588,000. That means $3.865,000 in appropriations will be available to spend on former Presidents! The 2016 proposed budget includes an additional $25,000 increase.
The Former Presidents Act, enacted in 1958, provides living former presidents with a pension, office staff and support, funds for travel, Secret Service protection, and mailing privileges. It also provides benefits for presidential spouses. Currently, former presidents are awarded a pension equal to the salary of cabinet secretaries, which totaled $203,700 for the 2015 calendar year and was boosted by $2,000 for the current calendar year.
Critics of the act argue that it financially supports former presidents who are not struggling. Many of them, alternatively, have gone on to profit from writing books about their time in the White House or delivering paid speaking engagements.
Former President Bill Clinton, for example, earned $132 million for delivering paid speeches between February 2001 and March 2015, according to an analysis from CNN. Clinton received $924,000 in taxpayer dollars last year by way of the Former Presidents Act.
Republicans in the House and Senate have introduced legislation that would cap annual pensions for former presidents at $200,000. Additionally, the bills would cut each pension by a dollar for every dollar the former president earns over $400,000 in the private sector in a given year. The measure was approved by the House in January with bipartisan support.
"It's pretty simple. You want a retirement and pension, it's there. But if you're going to go out and make enormous sums of money, then you don't need taxpayer subsidies," Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah), who introduced the bill in the House, told ABC News in an interview. "The former presidents are making gobs of money speaking and writing books, more power to them, but that doesn’t mean they need more taxpayer dollars on top of that," Chaffetz added. "It's embarrassing that they take that money."

WASHINGTON — A new study details how President Barack Obama has been inviting his Obama Foundation donors to events at the White House, a venue that obviously won’t be available to him to entertain mega contributors in a few months. The Obama Foundation, created on Jan. 31, 2014, has to date only 39 contributors, with the money coming either from individuals or foundations controlled by Obama supporters.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan oversight Maplight Foundation found that 15 of the 39 have been to the White House for small meetings or events, fewer than 30 attendees, including everyone connected to a contribution of more than $100,000.
Most of the donors have been longtime political supporters and friends — or at least acquaintances of Obama — and have been in and out of the White House for years.
However, Maplight found that at an intimate White House dinner in January 2015 with actress Julia Roberts, the guests included two couples who had recently made jumbo contributions to the Chicago-based foundation.
And as 2015 progressed, one of the couples at the dinner kicked in even more, the foundation IRS report released last Friday reveals.
Among those at the January 2015 dinner were Mark Gallogly, the managing partner of Centerbridge Partners, an investment firm, and his wife, Lise Strickler. At that point, the New York couple had donated $340,000 to the foundation.
By the end of 2015, they put in an additional $330,000 for a total of $670,000. I checked to see what else was new: Gallogly and Strickler were invited to the State Dinner the Obamas hosted in March for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In 2014, Tom Campion, owner of the Zumiez clothing chain and his wife, Sonya, gave the foundation $500,000. The Seattle couple found themselves at the Julia Roberts dinner along with folks who have also been longtime Obama backers. Another guest that evening was one of Obama’s favorite authors, Marilynne Summers Robinson.
The White House has said — and underscored this again on Wednesday at the daily briefing when asked about the Maplight report — that the Obamas are not fundraising for the foundation while in office. Well, no one is selling tickets to anything, that’s accurate. That’s not how fundraising at the mega level is done.
Obama will have to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to construct and endow his Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s South Side. Fundraising at the elite donor level is an art, a nuanced dance, especially for an institution that will exist in perpetuity.
Small dinners are not put on Obama’s daily guidance and schedule. On April 2, 2016, the White House volunteered that Obama and first lady Michelle hosted their first White House event for supporters of the Obama Foundation. That dinner was not a fundraiser, the White House said.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said: “What we have said about donors to the campaign also applies to donors at the foundation, and it’s simply this: Donating in support of the President’s foundation does not guarantee you a meeting with the President of the United States. It also doesn’t prevent you from getting a meeting with the President of the United States, and that’s the approach that we’ve taken, again, with regard to supporters of the President’s campaign, and it’s the approach that we’ve taken with regard to supporters of the President’s foundation.”
