Northern California digs out, as another ‘atmospheric river’ takes shape
The Sacramento Bee ^ | January 13th, 2017 | By Dale Kasler, Ryan Sabalow, Peter Hecht and Bill Lindelof

From broken levees south of Sacramento to snowbound streets in the mountains, Northern Californians tried to mop up from this week’s storms on Friday – while bracing for another “atmospheric river” set to hit Tuesday.

As the sun came out in Sacramento, the National Weather Service said the region should have four days to dry out before the next big storm system moves in. The dry weather will give swollen rivers and streams a chance to recede, and allow work crews to inspect and shore up levees strained by increased water flows. Still, the weather service said the next storm could be substantial, with up to 3 inches of rain possible in the Sacramento area.

Knock that sh*t off. The North State isn’t the same as that liberal hot mess down south.

About once a year I get out during a rainstorm and work on my drainage. I have a corner lot. I have it so it drains from the back patio, behind the garage to the back fence. Then along the back fence, under the side fence, and across the yard to the street.

I know the neighbors think I’m crazy out there ditching during a downpour.

California is a great place .
It has its share of strange people, but so does every state.
This drought being broken is a great thing.
The agricultural economy there is huge and has been hurt a bunch by the drought.
Getting idled land back into production will help many people.

Bingo. Liberals ultimately ruin everything they touch. At first they make some things better. Then the moonbats take over and communize everything umtil the leeches and control freaks kill the goose that laid those golden eggs. I cant even stand the sight of the California flag anymore.

As I tend to reply to pannings of “liberalism” — this is faux liberalism. Liberalism has an older classic history as the freedom of the quest to identify truth and beauty. It stood in opposition to dogmatism and believed that truth and beauty would defend themselves. Modern “liberalism” has turned into a new dogmatism which isn’t even honest like the old dogmatism was. It tells us that we have to cram our minds into some little strained corner with no regard to larger context.

If this were DU, I’d unleash a string of expletives.

Then again, were I to be posting on DU, I’d love the Train To Nowhere!

The dry years come every 11 years or so and the wet years also come on the same schedule.

I wonder how that correlates to the sunspot cycle? Doesn't that also have an 11 year duration?

I'm a little late to this thread, but I was going to post the same thing!

See "Sunspots and Drought." Curiously, the Western U.S is the only place on earth where this correlation seems to hold. That is a 1977 article, so it was written before the GW scare-mongering, cheating, and insanity that swept over the globe.
