That is what I was thinking; that this big flurry of awards and medals they are exchanging lately - the purpose is to be able to add a line of some “accomplishment” to their characters in the history books, Wikipedia entries, and so on. Something to offset the stories about their massive failures, scandals, corruption, and dismal treatment of patriotic Americans.
Sounds right by me. I was awarded a medal from the Navy for being an expert (the highest rating) pistol shot. I now think I should have been issued a warfare qualification pin, as, on one assignment, I actually had to carry a pistol!
