Some Of The MANY Reasons To Be Skeptical About Buzzfeed’s Trump Smear…

You have probably heard by now that Buzzfeed broke several codes of journalistic integrity and published wild accusations against Trump that were completely unverified.

In other words, they sacrificed their integrity in order to attack a political candidate they didn’t like.

Not exactly the most honorable thing in the world.

They have been getting absolutely destroyed by their colleagues in the media and even liberals like Chuck Todd agreed with Donald Trump’s conclusion that Buzzfeed had published “fake news”.

There are many reasons to doubt Buzzfeed’s report.

Here is Jim Geraghty breaking down a few of them.

From National Review:

Last night, in response to one of the memo’s claims, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen denied that he had ever been to Prague and posted a photo of his passport. Elaina Plott confirms: “Two USC baseball sources confirm for me that Michael Cohen and his son visited campus on August 29th, time report places him in Prague.”

Wait, there’s more, from the Wall Street Journal: “The FBI has found no evidence that he traveled to the Czech Republic, where the meeting allegedly took place in August of last year, officials said.”

Various items in the memo that jumped out at me as being odd:

The author uses the term “e-mail,” not “email”. This is generally the older way of referring to electronic mail.

The author refers to “US” not “U.S.” Some pages have hand-written numbering in the corner, some do not.

These are photographs of the document, not scans. On pages 10, 11 and some others you can see the shadow of the hand and (presumably) the cell phone used to take the pictures.

Two explosive but implausible claims on page 7. First, “PUTIN motivated by fear and hatred of Hillary CLINTON.” Hatred, I guess I can see, but fear? Really? You think he was afraid of what a Clinton administration would do to Russia? After Hillary’s State Department signed off on a deal that gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States? You can read more of the overwhelming evidence in the rest of Jim’s piece but you get the idea.

This was nothing more than a smear from the very start.

And people wonder why no one takes the media seriously?

Sad day for journalism.

Well, I think Putin could fear a Hillary gone mad. Not with a panicked fear, but a reasoned fear — like he feared America drama queening in Ukrainian politics.

That kind of fear does not move one to shrink in cowardice, but to act assertively.

It’s still a nuisance, though, and is preferably dealt with to mitigate or eliminate.

WikiLeaks has a response to the report, making clear they’re _very_ familiar with the telltale layout & style of such reports ... and this one clearly isn’t real.

Trump would never hire a prostitute. In fact, he used to have his girlfriends checked out by his doctor before any serious dating.

Like he said, he's a germaphobe.

Democrats made up the allegation that V.P. Elect George H.W. Bush flew an SR-71 to Paris to negotiate the release of the Iranian Hostages when President Reagan took Office.

Those same Democrats called anyone who had doubts of Obama’s NBC Status Bigots, even though Obama himself wrote in a Harvard Publication and his Kenyan Grandmother said he was born outside the USA.

Nothing surprises me any more.

What happened to the part about the “Peegate” being a 4Chan hoax? Other than on FR, I have not seen anything about this, even on Fox.

Has the hoax not been verified?

How did Hillary win the popular election by 3 million votes if the Russians interfered with the election?

“Sad day for journalism.”

Journalism is long dead, but definitely a HAPPY day for the fake stream media’s credibility plummet and ongoing death spiral.

I keep watching the media give Trump advice on how he should behave, as he’s running circles around them!

Journalism is long dead,...

Nope, it's still being taught correctly. Just not widely in the predominant schools.

4chan inserted a rumor about sex parties. It is not clear if the rumor covered golden showers. It did not say that the parties took place in St. Petersburg or in a context of Russian spying. That is according to 4chan.

None of the rest of the stuff about the dossier and Remington Steele is related to 4chan. At best, the dossier item about sex parties in St. Petersburg may be based in part on 4chan’s hoax information. If so, he should get credit for it.

Thanks. But why has the 4Chan part of the story died, when the rest is very much alive?

Michael Savage had someone on yesterday claiming to be at the heart of the 4Chan story.

He claimed to be pro-Trump, and to have written this to get revenge on Rick Wilson for ridiculing him and his as being single men who masturbate to anime.

It sounds like they thought it was too absurd to be believed generally, but that someone who was obsessed with finding dirt on Trump might grab at it.

If so, then I think the 4Chan angle is being suppressed by the MSM and Establishment because it utterly kills it as a weapon against Trump and his agenda (and now against Putin), and because it exposes them as the utterly mendacious buffoons that they are.

If Putin really wanted to F America, he would have backed Clinton.

I think media are both loathe to validate 4chan hijinks and fearful than any explanation of what 4chan is to readers and viewers who don’t know runs the risk of infuriating 4channers.

Which is how this started in part, from Rick Wilson’s insulting reference to them a year ago.

I've been asking that question since the Dems started running with the "Russian hacking" meme.

I'd love to hear Trump ask the media that question at his next news conference. Heck, he should just tweet it out for maximum impact.
