Reconstructing the Russian Trump Dossier Story: A Timeline

I put this timeline together overnight to assist researchers and to highlight a few connections that seem relevant. I included a number of themes I thought were relevant to the overall picture. In an effort to get this posted today, I have not yet integrated a few items that should probably be included, such as developments in Syria affecting US-Russian relations, for example. I am sure people will think of some other things I missed, so please chime in if you notice something.

Are you implying, or thinking, that the Koch brothers commissioned this opposition research initially?

I’m trying to identify who the “wealthy Republican donor who strongly opposed Mr. Trump” (September 2015) is and one of the Koch brothers is the first idea that comes to mind. I’m open to other ideas on who this might be—I haven’t seen anyone discuss it yet, unless I missed something on one of the threads discussing Fusion GPS.

I think the Koch Brothers had various cards on table which were strongly and marginally effective. For whatever reason, they left this on the table and refused to use for the primary, or the general election. The fakeness on this scale is fairly high, so you’d have to question yourself and the ultimate purpose.

The only thing missing is the actual 4chan/Rick Wilson element. The original “fan fiction” was passed to Rick Wilson well before the election, either in late 2015 or early 2016 IIRC. Your first mention of it is in Oct 2016, when you mention that bloggers recognize pieces of the 4chan FanFic in Mother Jones’ description of the Russian dossier. That mention kind of comes out of nowhere, leaving folks wondering what that was all about.

In short, there will be a LOT of heads rolling here in the USA and the in UK over this fiasco. And that doesn't include the possibility of a BuzzFeed shutdown and heads rolling at Comcast's NBC Universal and Time Warner's CNN divisions.

With the 4chan material being created for a specific target. Good ol wealthy Mitt Romney was the first to come into my mind. His hatred for Trump would make this MO more likely. The Koch Bro’s do not have a reason.

Yes, I’m still trying to nail down the dates on the original 4chan/Rick Wilson fanfiction creation. I’ve usually seen screenshots of the original threads, along with some archived discussions, but haven’t waded through them enough yet to nail down the specifics. The October date is based on the screenshots I’ve seen, where late October/early November discussions are noted. If they gave it to McMullin, they had to have given it to him after August 8, 2016, when he began his campaign; but the fanfiction could have been created well before that. If someone else has this info it’d be very useful.
