WASHINGTON (AP) - The Republican-led Senate is poised to take a step forward on dismantling President Barack Obama's health care law despite anxiety among GOP lawmakers over the lack of an alternative.

Senate approval - expected late Wednesday or early Thursday - and then House passage would trigger committee action to write repeal legislation that could come to a vote next month. A full replacement would follow sometime after that, presuming Republicans can come up with one.

"We must act quickly to bring relief to the American people," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

People act like we lived in the Dark Ages before CommieCare was passed just a few years ago. How ever did we survive?

despite anxiety among GOP lawmakers

McCain and his friend need to find some good therapy for their persistent anxiety. I understand water therapy is good, and McCain has some insights about its use.

They had better do it. The “blame” for restoring freedom will keep liberals from voting for them. The blame for failing to act now that they have the House, the Senate, and the White House will keep conservatives from voting for them. Without conservatives, they lose their place at the public trough. They had better do their job!

Watching Trump's presser today as he talked about ObamaCare I was waiting for him to say he will also get rid of the IRS penalties. So far no mention.

The Senate seems more on the ball than the House regarding repealing Obamacare. The House isn’t sure what to do, meanwhile the Senate is on the brink of voting for repeal. Get your act together, House Republicans!

Do it, Mitch. Prove me wrong. Prove you're not the detestable cowardly sack of monkey dung I think you are.

repeal it, it is destroying millions of jobs for Americans!

let states and locals decide if there is any need or benefit of putting more taxpayer funds into subsidizing the health system

it is not a federal concern to begin with!

exactly. We were fine before it. The only ones who were not ‘fine’ are those lazy leeches who are now on govt subsidy BECAUSE of it. So we have additional people who are on the govt dole.

We had the finest healthcare on the planet and people came here for treatment from all over the world for treatment.

There were people who wanted to end that. They are furious that we will remove this asininity without adding a similar stinker. Some of those freedom hating socialists post on this forum.

Great quote.

Trump has something in mind, and I would like to hear what it is before Congress jumps the gun and gets their version down the road. If they get too vested, Trump might have a harder time with his better plan.

I expect nearly all of it to be private sector insurance. He’s talking about much lower rates. I want to see how he’s going to achieve that.

Our idiots in Congress aren’t much better than the Democrats. They have limited vision. I want to see the vision of a guy that has plenty of it, first!

I don’t trust this Senate one damn bit not to “replace” it with more crapola and then try to lay it all on Trump in order to destroy him before 2020.

(or should I put the tin foil away?)

If the republicans drag their feet on repealing Obamacare Trump should start a Twitter campaign pushing them to end their own exemptions.

Make Obamacare apply to every citizen and legal resident including all government employees and officials.

ALL! With no exemptions.

Then watch how fast the senate and congress get moving!

During his press conference Trump said it would be a simultaneous repeal and replace. Maybe Mitch needs to check with the boss first?

...and then House passage would trigger committee action to write repeal legislation that could come to a vote next month.

Why the need for committee action again? Last year the Republicans passed and sent to Obama a bill that ended the individual mandate and eliminated funds for the consumer subsidies and Medicaid expansion. As an added treat it also cut off all funding for Planned Parenthood. Obama vetoed it, of course, but there still has to be a copy of it floating around the Hill somewhere. It's already been through committees. Dust it off, pass it again, send it to President Trump for his signature, and problem is solved. Obamacare is, for all practical purposes, dead. Campaign promise is kept. Move on from there.
