The Obama administration has blacklisted five prominent Russians, just 11 days before he leaves office.
Chief federal investigator Alexander Bastrykin and two men wanted in the UK for the murder of Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko are among them.
The sanctions come amid worsening ties, including claims Russia ran a cyber campaign to influence the US election.

An Obama blacklisting falls somewhere between contempt of Congress and a mummy’s curse.
It took them all these years to bring that issue up and take some sort of action.
More politics pure and simple.
Setting quite a ‘precedence’ for future Presidents.... Maybe ‘we the people’ can convince a President Trump to ‘sanction’ $0R0$?
If Obama is trying to stir up a late game war with Russia, he is going to have to directly attack Russia. Putin can play the long game. Europe is marshalling tanks on it border with Russia, as millions of Muslims tear away at its foundation. The US is marshalling it’s forces against Russia, as millions of Mexicans tear at our foundation. Putin can afford to lose a few pawns and still win the end game.
