Jesse Ventura Denied Reinstatement of $1.8M ‘American Sniper’ Verdict
New York Post ^ | January 9, 2017 | Emily Saul

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday shot down former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura’s attempts to reinstate a $1.8 million defamation verdict against the estate of late “American Sniper” author and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

The justices declined to hear the appeal, leaving intact an 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision that threw out the multi-million verdict St. Paul jurors awarded Ventura in 2014.

“I thought he won that suit.”

He did, but he lost on appeal to the Circuit Court and the SCOTUS wouldn’t hear it.

Well, the good news is he is free to fight outer space aliens in the jungle once again.

What a piece of garbage Ventura turned out to be. When he won the original lawsuit, he should have settled with Kyle’s widow for one dollar.

That would have made his point. But no, Ventura decided to go after a grieving widow for maximum bucks. Ventura disgraced himself here. I hope he is shunned by every veteran who comes across him.

Anyone know what was at issue in the suit? Who had the better case?

From what I can recall, Kyle claimed in some book that he had met Ventura in a bar, and the two of them had words. Kyle then said that he (Kyle) beat Ventura up.

Ventura claimed that never happened, and that the story made him (Ventura) look bad.

No millions Jesse? Well, you can still keep your destroyed reputation as a parting gift.

.
Jessie destroyed his own reputation. He was never a Seal, he was UDT before the Seals came into being.

Maybe he needs the money. You would expect Jesse to have a Governor’s pension. Isn’t that enough to live on?
Maybe he always was a rotten, shallow person, one who knew how to entertain people.

I believe they met after a Seal’s funeral and Ventura was bad mouthing Bush and Kyle called him on it and said he hit him and dropped him to his knees with one punch and that was it.

I once tuned into Coast to Coast AM with George Noory in the middle of an interview, and thought they were talking to a mentally retarded individual. Turned out to be Jesse Ventura.

No one saw the alleged punch. It was just another of his sea stories that got out of hand when he got big with his book.
He also claimed that he was at the Superdome in Katrina sniping bad guys, and that in Texas on a stretch of highway he killed two carjackers at a gas station. The cops were given a magic number to call at the Pentagon and they just let him go.
None of that has the slightest proof. I won’t call it lying, it was sea stories that got out of hand. But the next day he told a woman he punched him? And in that crowded bar -nobody-saw it. There was no security cam, nothing.

He served well, and then joined a grand tradition of BS peddling. Pappy Boyington did the same. According to John Bolt his TV series basically made up everything except there was a VMF-214 and it flew Corsairs. There are many of those stories.

Kyle made it up, Ventura was an ass, the publisher committed a tort, and lots of tragedy there. Nobody used a lick of sense.

He is a phoney f*ing a*hole who tried to sue the widow of a bona fide hero. The a*hole lost. That's the point.
