The problem is that Streep's life--from the time of high school all the way to today--is one of sheltered privilege. Streep is a graduate of the highly-regarded Bernards High School in New Jersey and is a graduate of both Vassar College (which is the female equivalent of an Ivy League school at the time she attended that college) and Yale University (the second most-prestigious Ivy League school after Harvard). And once Streep got into movie acting roles, she got many "plum" assignments. Today, Streep is worth a massive amount of money with homes in gated communities on both the US Northeast and southern California and a very expensive New York City apartment, and has access to a private jet, too.

This is why people viewed Streep's speech with skepticism, because she represents just about the top of the Hollywood Left elite food chain. It's small wonder why she personally introduced Hillary Clinton during the recent Democratic National Convention.
