Former Republican Senator Dan Coats of Indiana is the leading candidate to serve as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's director of national intelligence, NBC News reported on Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the discussions.
Coats met with Trump on Nov. 30 at Trump Tower in New York City.

Coats is an honorable man - but does not have sufficient experience in this area.
DT needs a shark that forces the underlying concerns across the agencies - and not the ivy league dolts in HQ that think that they are smarter than the seasoned professionals.

Thanks for posting that and I hope you are right and Trump does just that. I was about to recommend doing away with the DNI Office for just the reason you gave.

I hope Trump abolishes the Director of National Intelligence and all of its bureaucracy that has developed since it was created. It adds a political layer to the intel field. Competent directors of DIA, NSA, and CIA should be hired to clean out the political types and do their intel jobs.
I thought I just heard on the radio that he haS been selected by Trump. Hopefully I heard wrong.
