Trump Appears to Side With Assange Over Intelligence Agencies’ Conclusions
The New York Times ^ | January 4, 2017 | Scott Shane,Matt Flegenheimer & Julie Hirschfield

President-elect Donald J. Trump appears to side with the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange over United States intelligence agencies, with Vice President-elect Mike Pence backing him up. ...

For the Republican Party, Mr. Assange,..., was once purely a villain. He found little sympathy with conservatives after he leaked American military secrets from Iraq, published purloined diplomatic cables that could have gotten American sources killed and sought refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, fleeing charges of rape. But now, Mr. Trump appears to be siding with Mr. Assange over the conclusions of America’s intelligence services.

Julian Assange said "a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta." - why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info! -snip-

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) Jan. 4, 2017 Mr. Assange appeared on Fox News on Tuesday night with Sean Hannity, one of Mr. Trump’s biggest news media boosters, to declare once again that the Russians were not the source of the purloined emails that WikiLeaks released from the DNC and the personal account of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) Jan. 4, 2017 There were actually two separate hackings that the Obama administration has said came from Russian intelligence — with “100 percent” certainty. -snip-

...Mr. Assange said: “Our source is not the Russian government. It is not state parties.” But Mr. Assange has often said that the organization does not always know the identity of its sources. It is highly unlikely that anyone approaching WikiLeaks with the emails obtained by Russian government hacking would acknowledge the source, so it is likely that Mr. Assange cannot be sure of the origin of the emails.-snip-

Trump has taken more swipes at the intelligence community and he his letting them know he will not tolerate their deceit.

He was basically mocking intelligence officials after they had delayed a scheduled briefing on alleged Russian hacking because they “needed more time to build a case.”

Assange INSISTS he did not receive the info from Russia.

Assange hasn't been wrong in 10 years.

And we are supposed by believe the lyn' Times?

According to the interview on Hannity, the report has a disclaimer right on the top & basically says how hacking could have been done by Russia, but does not say it was done by Russia.

The “intelligence community” has a little over two weeks to decide whether or not they still want a job.

Podesta’s password was the word ‘password’.

If the media was honest, and told the true story here, many Americans now using insecure passwords would learn something from this story.

Instead... let’s just blame the Russians.

The fact is, there was no “hacking”. It was a simple matter of file-copying. When password=password the files are open to the public.

And the media is run by schmucks who won’t report this truth.

Use to be “Journalists” used ON THE RECORD sources who credibly had information as more believable then “unnamed sources” with an obvious political ax to grind. Seems Trump has a better understanding of the principals of journalism then the entire staff of the NY Times.

The guy who runs Wikileaks and released the e-mails in question says the Russians didn’t do it.
The Obama agencies have lied about everything.

Who would I believe?

Well, there are some people, somewhere in our government and in the Democrat party, who are trying to start a nuclear World War III, in a real big hurry, before the next president takes office.

Maybe the culprits are all known, maybe only some of them.

But what sort of justice should they get when they are fully exposed?

Agree. Nor can I see any way for Assange to benefit from lying about this.

Gotta love the NYT getting pissy over a politician siding with a whistleblower over the Intelligence / Defense complex official assessment.

I keep hearing “17 security agencies.” So I looked it up. It includes DEA and the Coast Guard which apparently devote considerable time to investigating Russian hacking and if you believe that......

If the FBI-DHS Hack Report released last week is all they have, then “intelligence” is sorely missing in these agencies. A 14 year old “script kiddie” could easily pull off what was described in the report.

I don’t expect our government to release proof to the public if it compromises anything. But if they can’t show the details to our representatives in congress (and staff who understand it) who have clearance, I’m going to assume they don’t have more than this FBI-DHS report.

It’s a guarantee that Russia, China, Syria, Iran, North Korea, Israel, and many private groups/individuals tried to hack every election-related computer they could. They all have many people paid to do that, as do we. The “intelligence” agencies need to prove that Russia “got in” and either
a) nobody else got in - even a DNC insider (which is not possible to prove),
or
b) Russia provided the data to someone (wikileaks or someone who gave it to wikileaks).

If the agencies (or Obama) want to make something like this public they must be willing to support it at least to the people’s representatives who have proper clearance.
