Complete Headline: Mormons launch petition trying to stop the Tabernacle Choir singing at Donald Trump's inauguration as one member resigns rather than perform at the ceremony

Mormons are urging a choir who are set to sing at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration to refuse to perform at the event with one of the singers even resigning in protest.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir are one of a few acts to confirm they will sing at Trump's swearing-in ceremony later next month.

The group has already performed at the inaugurations of George Bush, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and added they were honoured to be picked to perform.

But now it has emerged, a petition has been set up by fellow Mormons requesting that the choir do not perform at the ceremony and one choir member has resigned in a refusal to perform.

It comes after Trump had trouble during the Republican primary campaign winning over Mormon voters, who voiced skepticism about his candidacy.

Shouldn’t this thread be moved to the religion forum?

That’s a keeper.

My dad always said he wanted to be reincarnated as a Mexican Mormon so he could have three wives who could all cook Mexican food.

That quote sounds exactly like what you’d hear from your everyday SJW. The Cultural Marxist infiltration of even our religious institutions has progressed far over the past few decades.

The thought of this choir and Mormonism being forever associated with a man who disparages minorities, brags about his sexual control of women, encourages intolerance and traffics in hate speech and bullying, was unacceptable.
__________________________________________________

and yet the Mormons accept Joey Smith who was all those things and more...

the choir is already associated with such a guy of low character that that same fellow, Joey Smith INVENTED Mormonism...

He had 40+ ‘wives’ and all at the same time...some as young as 14

He never did get any divorces...

Joey Smith disparaged minorities,

bragged about his sexual control of women,

encouraged intolerance and trafficed in hate speech and bullying,

I’ve oft times thought of merely posting a title called simply “MORMANS” and then wait for the hyena’s to come down from the hills.

Not concerned about hyenas. AM concerned about the cultic wolves who qualify in the "savage" category:

I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. 28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. (Acts 20)

If the apostle never stopped warning his flock for 3 yrs...night & day...with tears...I think he made it a high priority to focus on those distortion-minded proselytizing cults drawing away false disciples after them...

For some reason, I just don't think the apostle Paul was a theological libertarian, unlike--apparently--some on this thread.

so who needs those pagan bigots ??? Cant Trump find a Christian choir ???

Amen.

Why promote anti-christ religion which deny's the need for the crucifixion as part of God's redemptive work? It's true. Mormonism teaches that the death of Christ was anunnecessary barbarity. How's that for preaching another Gospel?

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Mormons believe that Jesus "sweated blood" in the Garden at Gethsemane and that was the blood atonement. The Bible says his blood was LIKE (ὡσεί) droplets of blood, but it doesn't say it WAS blood. (Luke 22:44ff) This illustrates the willingness of the unsaved to believe a lie.

Thanks for your defense of Mormons. I have been in contact with many Mormons over the past 40 years or so. Since I am an avid genealogist, I have been to SLC several time to visit their genealogy library.

My observance of these people is of generous folks who live their lives with a high degree of traditional morality. They should not be judged by the resignation of one of their singers.

Notice that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang at the inaugurations of Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II. Apparently they were not invited to Clinton and Obama’s inaugurations. Says a lot.

When you're auditioning for godhood, as temple Mormons are, ya better believe ya wanna be on your best public behavior.

Then you of all people should know that the very reason--and ONLY reason--Lds are so zealous about such records is to proxy dunk-the-dead.

For somebody to promote Lds' genealogical acumen without mentioning this cultic element as its very basis is incomplete at best and suspect of its commendation at worst.

One woman in the choir will not sing. I just read the letter she wrote. A snowflake who, if she sings, will not be able to look at herself in the mirror.

For those of you with Facebook, it’s here if you could stand the Democrat page! UGH!

Scroll down to “Jan Chamberlin.”

The Mormon church is a top down organization I am guessing that the president of the church is a Clinton supporter

You'd probably be wrong.

However...

...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844:

Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’

Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church.
