My son's girlfriend had her car stolen a few months ago. She left it at a shop in the evening for repairs, and dropped the key in the slot on the door. Somebody fished out the key and drove off. She never saw it again.

I had a work van stolen there many years ago. It also was doubling as my home since I had turned it into a basic RV. Had all my worldly possessions in it, including all the tools I used to make a living. Never got it back.

ABQ has a Pub mayor, but until November, we had a state constitution that essentially required perps be released on bond. That, teenage gang members and proximity to Mexico (for both vehicles and parts) make it easy to steal and get away. Also, lots of travelers and folks staying in an ABQ motel overnight find their car/truck with belongings gone in the morning.

Stealing a man’s tools that he uses every day to make a living with absolutely ranks up there as one of THE worst things, probably worse than stealing his woman. I think there’s a special place in hell for those types.
