Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan claims US-led coalition forces have 'supported ISIS'

TURKEY’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed he has “confirmed evidence” US-led forces have supported ISIS.

Erdogan said “it’s very clear” the US is supporting terror groups in a damning press conference in Ankara.

He said: “They were accusing us of supporting Daesh (Islamic State).

“Now they give support to terrorist groups including Daesh, YPG, PYD. It’s very clear. We have confirmed evidence, with pictures, photos and videos.”

Casualties have mounted as the military tries to take the town of Al-Bab from ISIS jihadists and Ankara has become incresingly impatient over the lack of support from the US against the extremists for the Turkish operation.

At a news conference alongside visiting Guinean President Alpha Conde, Erdogan said:”The coalition forces are unfortunately not keeping their promises.

Turkey has met the fiercest resistance yet of the campaign in the fight for Al-Bab, some 25 kilometres (15 miles) south of the Turkish border.

Erdogan complained that rather than supporting Turkey, the West was backing the Kurdish Peoples' Protection Units (YPG) and Democratic Union Party (PYD), who work with the United States on the ground in Syria, and also ISIS.

"They are supporting all the terror groups -- the YPG, PYD but also including Daesh (IS)," Erdogan said.

But the Turkish leader expressed confidence over the assault saying "we now have the Daesh terror group surrounded on four sides in Al-Bab".

"Yes we have martyrs... but now there's no turning back," he said.

Erdogan said that along with Russia, Turkey backed a plan to bring the parties in the conflict together with key powers for peace talks in the Kazakh capital Astana.

But he said that "terror groups" must not be included and that Turkey also wanted to see its Gulf allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar involved.

I do not believe that Chris Stevens knew what was going on with Clinton/Brennan/Soros until he discovered the 400 stingers on their way to ISIS.

When he called the State Department and told them what he had found out, he became a dead man walking.

“We need to get out... There’s nothing there for the U.S.”

There’s plenty there for the Saudis, who own the Obama regime.

I’ll start to believe they’re ready to walk away when Trump lives long enough to take the oath.

Seems a long way off, doesn’t it?

And we, through Obama and McCain, are pawns of the Saudis and other Gulf states in this.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Actually, I tend to believe Erdogan in this case. He wants to resurrect the old Ottoman Caliphate so that this caliphate (under his control as Sultan of the New Ottoman Empire) controls Islam throughout the middle east and North Africa. His vision sees the extant of the Ottomans combined with the Ummayyad Caliphate

If you understand this, you will understand much of what Erdogan is doing.

Groups like YPG, PYD, etc., are fictions created to give cover to Obama/Clinton to make it appear they are “rebels”, when in reality they are functionaries of ISIS so Obama/Clinton won’t be seen as providing direct aid to ISIS.

Men can’t be perfect. Even Jesus wasn’t on earth.

We can try hard though :)

Maybe God set that standard so we can try to get as close as possible?

I’m FAR AWAY from it!

I am saddened by these outrageous accusations.

There was time in the not too distant past when I would have been able to confidently and vehemently reject them - to declare Erdogan a lying, propagandizing, jackass - confident that I was correct and that no American president would ever support islamic terrorists.

Unfortunately, the things I have witnessed over the last eight years require that I pause, and seriously consider the possibility that these outrageous accusations might be true.

That is why I am saddened by these outrageous accusations.

The events of recent years involving Syria are so bizarre that it’s hard to evaluate Erdogan’s statement as simply as true or false.

Essentially, Turkey allowed ISIS to be supplied through it’s borders with Obama’s approval. The US did support some Kurdish groups that Turkey considers terrorists, but AFAIK, never directly supported ISIS. Rather the policy has been to turn a blind eye to countries that have allowed ISIS to receive funding, men and materials — such as Turkey. The US has knowingly directly supported al-Qaeda’s various front groups in Syria with weapons and training, as has Turkey and many other countries. There has also been an effort to undermine those parties actively fighting ISIS.

For Erdogan to talk like he personally didn’t support ISIS is an outrageous lie.

As many commenters have already noted, the USA has had a long term policy of supporting Sunni Islamic jihadists when they were fighting people the US government didn’t like. This policy goes back to at least the Truman admin.

I think 95% of conservatives can agree that we should stop supporting people who are like the Taliban and al-Qaeda, no matter who they are fighting. I know there still some old cold warriors who have a soft spot for jihadist terrorists.

If a Kurd is breathing, that’s enough for Erdogan to consider him/her a terrorist, IMHO.

I am generally aware of his neo-Ottaman desires. However, I feel he is being disingenuous with regards to ISIS. Both of them share eschatological (i.e., end times) pretensions which are very explicit in Muslim society and theology. Additionally, until quite recently, Turkey was THE MAIN sponsor of ISIS (Rebels can only succeed if they have found favor in a country which borders the target of their ire.

Recently, Erdogan did a complete about face with Russia after being pressured into a corner. For now, they have aligned against ISIS. To me, that does not seem like a natural fit. They are perfect partners for the end of the world. I view their alleged animosity as fleeting.
