Probably a good idea.

I have seen you can register a copy at your local courthouse so it is saved. I never knew you could do that.

That’s odd. At my time of separation from the Army, we were told that we should file our original DD214 at our county courthouse as soon as we could. I’ve had numerous copies made since then and usually have a few at home for my convenience should I need one in a hurry.
