More States Consider Working Around the Electoral College

Frustrated after seeing another candidate secure the presidency without winning the national popular vote, mostly Democratic lawmakers in several capitols want their states to join a 10-year-old movement to work around the Electoral College.

In states including Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Mexico, legislators have said they plan to introduce legislation that would require their state's Electoral College voters cast ballots for the presidential candidate who earns the most votes nationwide, regardless of the statewide results.

"Every vote in this country should have equal weight. The Electoral College is a relic of a bygone era, and we need to change this system," said Connecticut state Sen. Mae Flexer, who filed a bill with several fellow Democrats requiring Connecticut to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Voter fraud and the MSM have been the two reasons we have had such a downfall in this country.

NPV will fail as soon as it’s tried. If enough states did sign NPV, and say a Democrat candidate with the popular vote won because of it, the electors would overturn the election immediately.

States who denied a candidate their electoral votes because said candidate lost the popular vote, would still have voted for electors from the same party as whoever won that state. Doubtful those electors would vote for a someone who stole votes that their party rightly won.

So the legislators want to disenfranchise the voters from their own states? Geniuses.

"Most recently, the bill was passed by a bipartisan 40–16 vote in the Republican-controlled Arizona House, 28–18 in Republican-controlled Oklahoma Senate, 57–4 in Republican-controlled New York Senate . . . "

Are these people insane? Do they have IQs in the idiot range? How could they possibly vote that way?

And don’t ever take your eyes off the “illegal alien” vote, “illegal multiple votes” or the “graveyard vote” that the ComDems have thoroughly implemented in CA.

“And if Hillary had won the electoral vote we would be hearing absolutely nothing from the knee jerk reaction crybabies...”

YUP! I have never in 64 years seen the likes of all the moaning as in this election. Of course, the corrupt have a lot to lose!!!

“Once patriots work with Trump to peacefully ‘force’ the corrupt feds to surrender state powers that the feds have stolen from the states back to the states...”

That needs to be repeated!

Then do citizen’s of other states have the right to demand that illegals are not voting and other forms of fraud are not committed?

Residents of every state would then have standing to sue California for their election laws.

The idiots are too busy whining to realize the problems they would create.

And if California is going to pick the president of all the States, we have a right to not allow the illegals to vote.

This can only be done with a constitutional amendment.

each state may apportion their votes INTERNALLY but there is the equal protection clause of the constitution.

Only dumb Democrats would think of this. They obviously didn’t learn from Harry’s nuclear option. The only states that this could pass, would be prime candidates for this to explode in their faces, not to mention a great issue for the next election even if this dumb idea didn’t pass.

Interesting that the intent of the founding fathers was for state legislatures to elect the president.

Only 10-15 states might have a passing interest in something like this, but it will have no bearing on the other 35 states. It might actually compel some purple states to vote red in future elections. The politicizing of the electoral vote might offend some people. Even blue state types.
I do not think any legislature will pass a law that would allow for their electors to vote differently than what the state popular results are.
Ok, maybe California.
If democrats had any brains they would not mention the popular vote idea for another hundred years.
Of course they have no brains, so we will continue to hear drivel like this unfortunately.

No! Congress can weigh in. If legislatures want to set up an interstate compact, Congress has plenary powers to regulate interstate compacts.
