SCHUMER DEMANDS CSX STOP THROWING UP ROADBLOCKS AND TRANSFER KEY PARCEL TO CITY OF HUDSON

Nearly Two Years Of Outreach With CSX Has Only Resulted In Dead-End Communication, The City’s Largest Redevelopment Project Since The 1980s Has Effectively Come To A Halt

Senator Says The Parcel Of Land Is The Missing Key To Help Hudson Launch A Major Development Project

Schumer To CSX: Get Project Rolling!

U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer today urged CSX to be a good neighbor and work with the City of Hudson as the local development corporation presses ahead in its proposal to acquire a CSX-owned parcel of land that could be the linchpin in its multi-million dollar redevelopment of the former KAZ warehouse site on Front Street in Hudson. Schumer explained that the local Hudson Development Corporation (HDC) has been trying to reach CSX for roughly two years now, but its outreach has fallen on deaf ears. HDC is looking to turn the former factory into a $25 million mixed-use facility with residential, retail and office space. However, a critical component of this project is the acquisition of a small CSX-owned parcel of land at the front of the KAZ warehouse property. This parcel is needed to extend the property to the top of Front Street so in order to provide a critical access point for businesses and residents, as well as public infrastructure, including parking, roads and sidewalks. Schumer urged CSX to come to the table and work out a solution with the local community, arguing that this project cannot afford to be halted any further.

Chuckie is checking out his new power as minority leader...

Somehow, I’m sure he will find a way to blame Trump as an obstructionist...why this deal has been DO A for years...

Welcome to the Club Chuckie! I had a land dispute involving CSX and they were the most intransigent bargaining partner I have even experienced.

Why doesn't the City of Hudson simply buy the land (at full retail value) instead of all this commotion?

A: It would cost to much and they think they can bully CSX to give the land for free.

Kiss off shoehorn (or however you spell it).

God forbid that CSX use property it owns for something other than what the constantly overreaching, greedy, oligarch fed, government carnival barkers like Schumer want it used for.

The federal laws regarding railroad owned land are a very special case. it is extremely difficult to acquire railroad owned right of way.

My daughter is a right of way agent & property appraiser for a state highway department. All I know is she told me that everything is a LOT different with railroad land. Especially eminent domain, on which she is something of an expert in her job.

Probably a unique experience for Chuckie to find blustering, bullying and threats are ineffective. ha FN ha

Thanks for the info. The railroads were very special entities in the 19th century and yes, retain much granted to them in consideration for opening up the country.

Still, the passive aggressive treatment to Schumer by CSX: couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

If private property were a valid element of our society Hudson would have no connection with development of land.
