In advance of taking office in January, Donald Trump's transition team has people surveying the Texas-Mexico border for places to build a wall. U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, says while some areas don't want the structure, they're being told to submit ideas anyway.

Do what you're told.
I agree it’s remote. But there have been (in the past) both border crossing AND violence from coyotes in the area (murders of tourists). So I am thinking we need to be flexible on the definition of a wall. IMHO, it should be minimal there, but real. And backed up by remote monitoring, so we can secure it.
Another problem is Lake Amistad - clearly the fence must be on our side — and there is a fisherman (or family of) murdered there about every year. Pretty bad, considering how remote the lake is. We should put border patrol in the lake. The drug guys use it to cross the border. That’s why the murders.
No more government freebies and orders for the BP to shoot with real ammo.
The underlying problem has not changed.
Illegal immigration a significant problem, but those such as yourself who say the problem can be solved by enforcement only just talk in vague terms.
For example: if you use tent jails and can get 4 illegals in each tent, you will need 2,750,000 tents. Where will you put all those tents.
If you use boxcars to deport the illegals and can get 50 illegals in a boxcar, you need 220,000 box car trips.
That's based on 11 million illegals and there may be 20 or 30 million illegals
and that would be awful for us. We never win an election again. God I wish I didn’t hate the hot weather so very much and like cold weather so much.
Why should we give up our access to the river for the entire length?
You are a Yankee blowhard.
Because we want to build a 30 foot high wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico. Giving up access to the river kind of comes along with that plan.
Eisenhower did it. Operation Wetback.
True, it wasn’t as many as we have today, but it was the 1950’s. With the technological advances we have today it should still be possible.
As happened in the 50’s, many will “self-deport” when they are no longer being hired and their money being sent home is taxed to build the wall.
Right after the wall gets built?
BTW, how many tons of cement will be required to build that wall. How many cement kilns are you planning on building and where will they be located?
Yes, lake Amistad is a problem, it is close to Del Rio which is really a problem. I live in San Angelo, a lot of drug traffic through here from Del Rio.
You obviously don’t realize I live in AZ, and we are sick to death of illegals here. You have a river to deter them, we don’t.
Otherwise, the river flows SE. Can you enter the US, from Mexico, on a boat?
If you think some cowboys and their stupid cows are going to keep us from having a wall you are dreaming..
Step one in securing the Mexican/American border is to IMMEDIATELY deploy US Armed Forces to the border!
LOCKED AND LOADED!
They’re called pipes. The Ancient Romans invented them.
Extra border patrols an laser sensors discretely hidden in trees...
Meh it’s not that much cement compared to the interstate highway system etc.or even the drop in housing construction in 2009.
Not a big fan of property rights I see.
They may not stop it if we pay them enough.
Yeah maybe not By the time we clear house of all the liberals (and there are a bunch of them) the US may look a lot different.
