When I read articles like that one, I am reminded of this story. People need to awaken to the fact that, for fundamentalist Muslims women have no rights. Filing for divorce often ‘forces the hand’ of the fundamentalist. That being said, I have friends who are Muslim. I have known them for nearly 20 years. They emigrated in the 90’s and just want to live their own American Dream......and ARE living it. Brilliant kids and lovely parents. Not all Muslims are fundamentalist, or at least they don’t act out like the fundamentalists. I suspect the majority of Muslims in this country just want to be left alone and support the culture to which they have adapted. Anyway, here’s the story of a couple who wanted to show this country that we have nothing to fear from Muslims in general. Heartbreaking.

Honestly, I do not think that true believers in islam will ever integrate into western society. The tenents of islam are anathema to Judeo-Christian principles and will always be. Islam has been at war with us for centuries and will always be. Now and then the west shakes off its normalcy bias, sees islam for what it is and takes appropriate action. I pray it will do so again.
And very unfortunately, Canda too.
