The Electoral College formalized Donald Trump's election victory on Monday despite protests around the country to encourage GOP electors to abandon the Republican.
The president-elect easily racked up the 270 electoral votes needed to send him to the White House. Interest in the normally mundane voting process spiked this year as opposition to Trump continues to fester, fueled by Clinton's success in capturing over 2.6 million more votes than her Republican opponent.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I hope his security is up to the task. There are some evil scum bags out there.
Well, since Trump is now officially the President-Elect (or does he have to wait for Congress’s certification?), if anything happens to him, Pence will take office as President. But the question to ponder is what would have happened if Trump had died before today?
This scenario almost happened to FDR in February of ‘33—a month before the inauguration. A guy shot at him, but missed, killing the mayor of Chicago. People were afraid that Hoover as the electoral college runner up would be re-elected. So they passed the 20th amendment.
As a side note, the assassin was executed on the 20th of March—same day FDR was sworn in. They didn’t take 20 years to ‘flip the switch’ in those days.
Did anyone else notice, when President Trump(sounds good don/t it) came out to give his victory speech on Nov 9, that he had gained a lot of bulk over earlier in the evening? I think that was when the ceramic plates went into the armor. I certainly hope so. Liberals are nuts, everyone of them.
I fear that...plus a terrorist attack
Let’s see... this makes the THIRD time Hillary has lost to Trump? (What a beautiful phrase). So when Congress meets to count the votes and confirm Trmp’s victory officially, that’ll make 4 defeats. Then on Inauguration Day, that’ll make her fifth and FINAL defeat. Is that right? I never ever thought defeating The Beast would be so much fun for so long. Whatta ya bet she’ll hit the bottle and be too snockered to even watch President Trumps inaugural speech. And that’s my only regret. Darn!
She lost five.
I’ll bet Hildabeast is drunk right now. She has had a disappointing day.
Obama played the “Race” card, Hillary played the “I’m A Woman” card, America played the “TRUMP” card.
Can’t wait to see how $$ Hillary will earn giving speeches in the next few years. Surely, there must be an audience that’s still eager to hear Pneumonia Spice chirp, no?
President Trump sounds awesome!
I am not familiar with body gear, but I hope he has the best available.
And he deserves our prayers.
just sayin — most of the recent assassinations have been head shots. i think mckinley was a body shot with a small caliber. Only God will spare him and i pray for that constantly.
They will try to kill him. Again. And again.
/aware of two attempts so far, one of which was posted here and one from another source
The legislative history of the 20th Amendment says a person becomes "President elect" upon a majority of the Electors voting for him. So Trump is now President-elect. If Trump had died after Election Day but before today, the Republican Electors would have been free to vote as they wanted.

The 20th Amendment was adopted on January 23, 1933, before the attempt on FDR's life. Section 3 thereof provides that if the President-elect dies, the Vice President-elect becomes President on Inauguration Day. So if FDR had been assassinated, Vice President-elect John Nance Garner would have become President on March 4, 1933 (the date changing parts of the amendment took effect on October 15, 1933).
Their last desperate effort will be to have one rep and one Senator ( look for California ) to object on Jan 6 at the certification of the votes. Of course it will get them nowhere, but it is their last chance to "declare" him illegitimate. It will be fun to watch if they do it since it will be the 4th time Hilary would have lost :-)

Like the way they played up the 2.6 million popular vote win but failed to mention more faithless electors stayed away from Hillary than PEOTUS.
“Theyre running out of options.I expect a serious attempt to assassinate Trump.”
Yes, I’ve had the same thought. Then the question “before the inauguration”? Of course, Obama still wants to be President for life like his idols Mugabe and Papa Doc Duvalier. If Trump is inaugurated, Obama is out of luck and out of a job, but prior to the inauguration, Trump better keep his own security folks doubled up, tripled up if possible.
