Hollywood Ponders America's Hatred of Muslims

On Dec. 4, the second Sunday of Advent on the Christian calendar, Fox's "Family Guy" mocked two-thirds of the Holy Trinity as only Fox can. In atheist Seth MacFarlane's gag, Jesus Christ had a human son who he mocked for being bullied at school, comparing that to the horror of the Crucifixion. When his son called him a "dick," he suggested that God the Father was a bigger "dick" for sending him to his death.

On that same day, The New York Times ran an enormous article that sprawled over three pages of the Arts & Leisure section with the headline "Can TV Be Fair to Muslims?"

Just try to imagine Muslims being mocked on American television as Christians are on "Family Guy" or "South Park." ABC's "The Real O'Neals" is organized entirely around bigotry against the Catholic Church, as is HBO's forthcoming "The Young Pope." But Hollywood's treatment of the Christian majority never bothers The New York Times, which only obsesses over religious minorities, like the 0.9 percent of Americans who identify as Muslim and have never suffered a fraction of the insults aimed at Christians on television.

Times correspondent Melena Ryzik began by complaining about the absence of Muslim characters on shows other than those focused on terrorism or "terrorist-adjacent" storylines. She said: "Could that change now, after a divisive presidential campaign that included vows by Donald J. Trump to stop Islamic immigration? Or will it be more difficult than ever?"

Did we mention that Muslims comprise less than 1 percent of the American population? Exactly what is the market for a Muslim show? And while we're at it, where is there a market for an anti-Catholic comedy series (other than the staff at ABC, of course).

To The New York Times, radical Islamic terrorism is a smaller problem than Islamic representation on entertainment TV. Ryzik assembled a gaggle of exquisitely Islamosensitive TV writers and showrunners to ponder how to create better pro-Muslim TV shows in the Trump era.

Ryzik asked: "The FBI has said that attacks against Muslims were up 67 percent last year. Do you have any anxiety about your shows being fodder for that?" Howard Gordon, who's running a reboot of "24" for Fox, said, "Absolutely, yes." He reported that Muslim Americans trashed his show the first time around. They said, "Hey, I like your show, but you have to understand that you're contributing to this xenophobia by trafficking in this worst fear, this sort of basest fears." Gordon says he wants to create an atmosphere of -- get this -- "vigilant empathy."

Joshua Safran, the creator of ABC's "Quantico," told of crying for hours in the writing room over Trump getting elected. He added: "For me, it was important to not ever put a Muslim terrorist on our show. There hasn't been one. This year we have the appearance of one -- which is a spoiler. But it's not true."

But slander Catholics? ABC does that regularly.

What the Hollywood left wants to make is propaganda that apologizes for America. Aasif Mandvi, a former "Daily Show" correspondent and Muslim activist, explained at one point that "As an artist, you want to stay true to the narrative, and sometimes that goes against your activist agenda, which is to promote this positive image of Muslims."

The entire panel assembled by the Times agrees that the Trump presidency means the stakes are "higher than ever" to make pro-Muslim shows to fight the new administration's alleged Islamophobia. They don't find any cognitive dissonance in seeing it go side by side with shows that stereotype Christians as psychotic power-crazed hypocrites or mock the Christian God as a trinity of dicks.

Maybe they can come up with a sitcom about life in ISIS-controlled territory. I’m sure it will be a ratings winner and a real side-splitter and neck-cutter.

Ponder away, pervert moron losers!

I still have total control of the movies I choose and the TV programs/news I watch.

Just give it a rest.

That matches my observations pretty well. Whenever there is a murderer, you can guarantee it won’t be the muslim. In fact, if there is a muslim suspect, you know you will be in for a “lesson” about not jumping to conclusions or being prejudiced and the muslim will be innocent, a good guy, and a victim of bigotry.

The perp will definitely be white, not muslim, black, or hispanic. And in another interesting departure from statistics, there will be a HUGE number of female perps.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that Hollywood will often have white characters as lead actors to draw better ratings, but their bosses will all be black or female or both. That way they can appease blacks by putting them in “leadership” roles, but they don’t have to pay the black actors as much and they don’t lose as many white viewers.

How many of the “super genius” characters are black? Way, way more than 13%! Considering that the average black IQ is around 80, that is a preposterous departure from reality.

I would be happy to watch a show with a diverse cast, if it had any remote resemblance to reality instead of being some liberal version of “diversity utopia fantasy land” that they are trying to sell us.

I was mad at an episode of the new X-Files because I just *knew* the Muslim kid being accused of blowing up an art gallery was going to be proven innocent. I was shocked when he was not only guilty as hell, but they were able to get enough information from him to raid a motel where a bunch of Muslims were on their rugs saying a last prayer before a huge terror strike. Not surprisingly, the left denounced the episode for its “Islamophobia.”

They did mar the episode by having a redneck nurse planning to smother the kid and, when caught, spewing the left’s idea of how a right-winger sounds. But, at least they had Mulder mentioning the violent aspects of the Koran and musing how a religion could teach its young to hate.

That’s interesting. It’s not a show I’ve ever seen, so didn’t figure into my previous post.

I think it will be interesting to see what kind of story lines are developed going forward. I wonder if Trump in office will change anything and if that will make things more or less realisitic. They might just double down on the current propaganda.

The funniest (and stupidest) observation was the one made by resident Black Communist....the freakin' Van Jones.

He said, "Trump talk is making these Muslims get violent."

LOL.

So let's see.....before Trump..... Muslims were tolerant, compassionate human beings doing good deeds all over the globe....dancing around the Maypole making daisy chains for their beloved Muslim women.

Then along came Trump.....

Dropping the daisy chains, the compassionate Muslims picked up machetes and started beheading people.....started shooting at a Christmas party in San Bernardino, started a killing spree in Paris, started beating their women ..... and so on and so forth.

It’s very much the exception to the rule. In 99.9% of Hollywood, a terrorist will be some white guy. I think one of the Clancey movies saw the Muslim terrorists turned into European white supremacists. I think Taken had Neeson taking on Muslims, but I’m pretty sure he’s gone PC on the subject since then.

That is correct. “The Sum of all Fears” was a fine Clancy book with Middle Eastern terrorists. For the movie Hollywood decided it would be better if the terrorists were a bunch of Kiwanis members....
