One more example of Trump thinking two steps ahead of the Trump-haters

Remember when Trump supposedly blundered into a diplomatic minefield he had no comprehension of by taking a phone call from the President of Taiwan? The same media that his dismissed his presidential run as comedy were dead certain that disaster lay ahead in a complex and delicate diplomatic relationship.

So committed are Trump haters to the idea that he cannot possibly have outsmarted them that they never bother to consider that a plan may be at work. Average Americans understand that the devastation of our manufacturing sector is in large part the result of that delicate diplomatic balance, and the notion that it might be disrupted sounds as satisfying as watching stuffy rich lady Margaret Dumont receive her comeuppance at the hands of Groucho Marx.

Yesterday, Donald Trump revealed a brilliant choice for Chinese ambassador on Facebook, bypassing the media once again.

President-elect Donald J. Trump today announced his intent to nominate Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa, the longest-serving governor in American history, to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to China.

Gov. Branstad's relationship with President Xi Jinping dates back to the mid-1980s, when President Xi was a young county official seeking a closer relationship with Iowa's robust agriculture sector.

“Governor Branstad’s decades of experience in public service and long-time relationship with President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders make him the ideal choice to serve as America’s Ambassador to China,” said President-elect Trump. “He successfully developed close trade ties with China while serving as chief executive of the Hawkeye State. That experience will serve him well as he represents America’s interests and further develops a mutually beneficial relationship with Chinese leadership.”

smart man...the media will continue the blitz of hate and criticism. It will turn the public off even more to the ENEmedia. This is fun to watch.

It’s interesting to me that Trump has named an ambassador to China before naming a SecState or any other ambassodors other than UN (as far as I know). It signals, I think, that a very crucial focus for Trump will be on fixing the asymmetries in our relationship with China.

This is SUCH fun, watching Trump operate. Yes of course he’s 2 steps ahead of the media. They are so lame, so “yesterday”, so unimportant.

From his original announcement day, mentioning immigration issues, etc., the press is chasing HIS stories. He must chuckle as he watches the situation unfold.

I love that he puts out a “tweet” and the media chases that story with outrage, then he puts out another “tweet” and the press jumps over to that new story.

That’s why we voted for him. 65 million of us GOT IT... and proved it on election night. We won’t get everything we want, but this is awesome fun so far, winning is great, his choices for cabinet picks are tremendous and the future is looking bright. Much needed change from the downtrodden, how to take out the USA, how to harm anything American that has prevailed for the last 8 years. Dems just don’t get Trump. We sure do and we’re loving this. Optimism rules.

Concur. The Donald is putting some serious calculus behind his SOS pick. He also understands the vital difference between the economic China and the political China.

I seem to remember reading that China has already purchased some American farmland.

If true, will Amb. Branstad work to buy it back, citing that it only makes sense for Americans to control this precious natural resources (for obvious reasons), or does he plan to allow Beijing to continue controlling the means of production?

As I recall, switching sides at halftime is a longstanding tradition to avoid showing favoritism toward either school.

Some guys was whining that he was from a landlocked state.

Hmm. The most important shipbuilder of WW II, Andrew Jackson Higgins, was born in Nebraska, but created the famous LCI “Higgins boats.” Ike called Higgins “the man who won the war.”

By the libs’ standards, he couldn’t have built a dinghy.

And some smug doofus over at "thinkprogress" couldn't wait to slam Branstad as an utterly unqualified nobody from an "all-white, landlocked" state in flyover country.

Couldn't be bothered to do a even few seconds of research on Branstad before before posting his snarky tweet.

It's very much the Emmanuel/Obama/Jarrett playbook of causing outrage after outrage--so many of them clustered together, you can do whatever you want as people freak about the current outrage thus enabling implementation of the previous 20.

“And some smug doofus over at “thinkprogress” couldn’t wait to slam Branstad as an utterly unqualified nobody from an “all-white, landlocked” state in flyover country.”

It’s easy to become unmoored from definitions as the left continues to change labels. It is my belief that human nature doesn’t change much. In every generation you have “this” kind of people and “that” kind of people, and as a matter of personality and character, those groups don’t change much.

For instance, every generation has people who want to run things, and people who are not driven by power.

Today’s leftards are the same people who burned heretics ands homos. They are the same people who held the Salem witch trials, the same people who supported the Klan, the same people who followed John Brown, the same people who reelected Marion Barry after he was videotaped smoking crack and consorting with prostitutes.

That group of people, people who are “that” way, seems to exist at every point in history. Their slogans and the color of their coats changes, but inside they are the same people: people who should never be in charge of anything.

When I was in grade school, we didn’t let those kids lead. When they spoke up, we slapped them down. In the intervening decades, these people took over our entire county, and they have almost destroyed it.

One of the things I hope for the most from our new president is that he start the process of discrediting “that” kind of person.
