Jeep Fans? I am Thinking of Buying a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara

Jeep Fans?

Freeper Husbands!

I am Thinking of Buying a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I like the vehicle, it is big for me, I am moving from my Golf Diesel. Although I have had Xterras and Mazda MPV (Before they ruined its design) previously.

I looked at many new cars and SUV crosses and they all are poorly designed, have lousy visibility and have metal that is so thin it needs to be serviced every few months. I also discovered I need a more butch looking vehicle. All the Suv crossovers look like they were made for Oprah. Teardrop shapes and curves.

I liked the used Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. It looks durable, I have found a couple of them. Seems as though I am having a difficult time getting the price down below 30K

I cannot quite figure out the Jeep Wrangler choices. Is there a Jeep Wrangler as high and tall as the unlimited but only with 2 doors? All the Wranglers I see with 2 doors are short and look like they belong in a suburb.

Any advice from Freeper Jeep owners appreciated.

Am I making another dumb move here?

Friend has a jeep - big wheels, offroad mods, lights - probably about $15,000 in upgrades. Actually goes off road with it. It is his pride and joy.

Really pissed him off when I pointed out the rust under some screws on a vehicle that was less than a year old.

Chrysler makes garbage.

Not sure. The doors however can be half-doors (typically you see those on the rag-top versions) or full doors which can be on the two or four-door models.

Security is better with the full doors. The Wrangler however is more like an original Wrangler however, with the rag-top and half-doors, for purists out there.

YMMV.

Over 20+ years, I’ve driven the wheels off of two used Jeep Grand Cherokees and got my Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon this past May. I Love It!
It has a lift kit that makes it taller as well as having bigger tires.
If you like the way you feel when you test drive it, go for it! They aren’t for everybody, but they sure can be a lot of fun!

I own the WJ version. V8. After I got this Jeep, I never even want to go down to the faggy 4 cylinder types.

The Jeep is a Chrysler product. Need I say more?

Get a Subaru Outback ... you’ll be happy for many years to some.

My opinion for what it’s worth.

So there is a 2 door Sahara. Now I just need to understand the difference between each model.

A new set of tires, an oil change and gasoline.

If you want a nice suv, look into a Grand Cherokee.

The wrangler, including Sahara, is a rough driving vehicle - built for off road.

Buying a Jeep is like buying an RV or pontoon boat.

I test drove an XTerra and was nervous the whole time. I’m not a nervous driver - I have driven most everything on wheels from Semis, to Tractors and combines, skiploaders, motorcycles, other heavy equipment like excavators, first car was a Caddilac, had various pickup trucks and full size vans (15 seats). The XTerra was one I did not feel comfortable in.

but hey you’ll look great driving it and all jeep drivers wave at each other...otherwise I wouldn’t use it for our farm truck. We owned lots of jeeps too....get a Subaru...upside of jeep... good resale valve

I looked at the burus’. Not like the burus’ of 10 years ago where they were rough and tough. The EPA turned them into sissies.

I am trying to look good. I can wave back!

you will be unhappy at the breakdowns and they are not a great vehicle for feeling confortable in.

______________

I am worried about breakdowns. OTOH the heated leather seats were comfortable. I am driving a golf diesel six speed standard. Face it, a tractor would have a smoother ride.

This is part of the reason you see so many different versions of Jeeps. People are always tweaking them.

I must be looking at tweaked ones then.

Buy two, so you’ll always have one to drive while the other is in the shop being repaired... and put your mechanic on your 401K plan.

:)

ow.

Just the Wranglers? or the entire line?

You can get after market lifts, including a suspension lift or a body lift.

Body lift is purely cosmetic, only helps with tire clearance and lookin’ good going down the road (to those who do not know the difference) A suspension lift provides articulation.

You'll need to choose between 4wd and 2wd. If you are not going to use the 4wd, no sense it getting it for the decal on the side.

. Very reliable, I also have a lifetime warranty that I got through one of the many Wrangler forums. Tons of aftermarket choices, the list goes on and on!

good to hear. Looks like the sport Sahara is the four door unlimited’s baby brother.
