John Kasich's name floated by rogue electors in unlikely plan
Columbus Dispatch ^ | December 6, 2016

Kasich is increasingly seen as the most acceptable Republican alternative to electors on both sides of the aisle, according to multiple electors familiar with the conversations. They note that Kasich defeated Trump in Ohio's primary, that the governor boasts a high approval rating in his state and that Kasich was reportedly under consideration to be Trump's vice president before he selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Maybe I’m dense: WHO CARES WHO DEM ELECTORS VOTE FOR?

Here is my take. If the election gets thrown into the House, the House members can choose between the top THREE electoral college vote recipients. If Kasich gets the majority of faithless electors and there are enough to deny Trump, then he would be one of the choices available to the House. But until 37 Trump electors peel off, what the Dems do does not matter.

Bob Dole thinks Bob Dole is a good pick.

This is nuts, and things would get really ugly. Can you imagine enough republican electors saying to the citizens, “Hey, we just voted for someone to be president that NO ONE wanted during the primary.”? This will not happen. It must be a really slow news day coupled with continued liberal anxiety over a Trump presidency.

Still breathing, but stick a fork in him...he's DONE! Especially as a force in the Republican Party. He might as well roll over to full RAT.

Is Kasich crazy enough to allow himself to be the figurehead for this nutty effort?

Liberals and sore losers liking him should not surprise anyone who pays attention to Kasich:

- Kasich voted for the “Assault” Weapons Ban. https://grabien.com/file.php?id=53463 and as of last year did not regret that vote

- Kasich supported and implemented Obamacare’s Medicare expansion http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/john-kasich-bible-medicaid_us_56140a54e4b022a4ce5fb1e3

- Kasich supports Amnesty for illegals. http://www.ontheissues.org/John_Kasich.htm

- Kasich dismissively said Christian bakers should “bake the cupcake” and participate in a gay parody of the sacrament of marriage, even if it violates their religious beliefs. https://www.frcaction.org/updatearticle/20160225/kasich-pushes

- Kasich supports Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/john-kasich-id-consider-nominating-merrick-garland-supreme-court-election-2016/

End of discussion. Those are not old views or comments taken out of context; they are Kasich’s current and consistent positions. Overthrowing the legitimately elected government of the United States to put Kasich in power would be an act of war, and I would expect it to end badly.

Believable, yes, but no record of that turned up in a cursory search.

More info would be greatly appreciated.

Well, keep this in mind in case you are ever on a quiz show in 2035, and the question is, “What do John Kasich, John Ewards, Lloyd Bentsen, John Hospers and Harry Byrd have in common?”

Difficult to prove otherwise, since there's been no disavowal from Kasich that I'm aware.

Only the names of the top 3 electoral college vote getters can be considered for president by congress according to the Constitution. Top 2 vote getters for vice-president.

folks, this is simply more fake news from the fake news media.

it’s EXACTLY the same kind of fake news the fake news media manufactured during the GOP convention when they were claiming a revolt amongst the delegates was going to deny President Trump the nomination. They carried on about this for weeks, and of course absolutely nothing happened. The GOP convention came off without a hitch.

On the other hand, the fake news media did their best to cover up the massive dissension and massive walkout of Bernie sympathizers during the Dem convention.
