We’ll be trying to get over Obama for a while too.

“White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during a press conference Monday it was natural for World War II veterans to be “embittered” about Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Pearl Harbor, but they should get over it for the sake of America. “

While I think it is absurd that people that are 35 should be acting “offended”, it is callous and disgusting to tell actual veterans that they should have no feelings at all!

Yes, the world has to go on for the younger generations, but these guys had their youth taken away, not to mention their friends and family, by Imperial Japan and they deserve to shout their peace until their last day.

My mother NEVER "got over" Pearl Harbor...never.
She NEVER trusted the Japanese after that. I sure didn't blame her. No one with a brain would.

Let me see, I can’t quite recall. Did Obama tell the Japanese to “get over it” when he went to Hiroshima?

I was born in the 60s and I'm still pissed at the Japanese over Pearl Harbor. FU, Whitehut! You should let sleeping dogs lie!

Let the veterans that lived through Pearl Harbor have whatever feelings they wish. They earned that right.

No, they should not get over slavery, IF they were a slave.

You want to see what NOT GETTING OVER LOOKS LIKE?

Wait until Jane Fonda dies and there is a line of Viet Nam vets waiting to piss on her grave.

Should blacks get over slavery?

*********************************************************

Using Josh Earnest’s reasoning of “for the good of the country” they should.

For those WWII vets (including my dad) who left their families and fought for their country, dodging bullets, watching friends/comrades in arms die, were wounded, had their lives irreparably changed, saw/suffered the atrocities of the Japanese ...... I understand their ‘bitterness’ and would not deny it to them or suggest they ‘get over it’ for any reason. I believe “we”, as a country, still owe them that respect at a minimum.

“drafted”?? The lefty is trying to rewrite history (no surprise). The draft was unnecessary, as the armed services had more volunteers than they could handle, in fact there were lotteries with the winners being accepted to serve.

mandaladon @2: "Tell the Rats to get over the fact that they lost the election"

The Rats will never get over that, just like they never got over Traitorgore losing.

BTW, we should never forget the traitorous Demonicrat and RINOcrat senators who did not vote to convict the impeach Traitorwillie.

Why would you "flame" over that? It was true, wasn't it?

It's also easy to forget that Hawaii wasn't even a U.S. state at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

My late uncle Hank was at Pearl Harbor that December 7th. He told me he was writing out Xmas cards when he heard the noise and explosions. He said there was a lot of confusion as to what was happening. One thing he did tell was he saw some of his fellow shipmates, who were playing volleyball, cut in two by a Jap strafing run.

I agree with you. I never understood the resentment anyone would have against a foreign country that hasn’t been an enemy of ours in decades.

Meanwhile, due to ongoing bitterness by the PRC, we shouldn't talk to Taiwan. Can't talk out of both sides of your mouth, folks.
