Anxious to see what happens to bloated and wasteful and out of control projects like the Ford class carriers, the F-35, the Zumwalt class etc.

If he hates waste and poorly run projects he should have a field day.

Problem is though, even if he eliminates all these projects and all other spending etntitlements are going to sink us.

Trump *owns* all the gold paint used on aircraft.

The AF-1 747’s have been replaced several times already, and have been overhauled frequently in the meantimes. They are NOT mid-60’s design. Aluminum, engines, nor electronics. Nor defensive add-on’s.

Good for Trump! Boeing has the new Prez-1 as a cash cow and that crap needs to stop!

Ok, but the question from that article was, why does a new 747 cost so much more than just the inflation-adjusted price for the original 747 from 1970.

Does anyone have a reference for the $4 billion dollar amount that President-Elect Trump mentioned in his tweet?

Is it for one aircraft? Two? Does it include the rotary wing aircraft used in the Presidential Support mission? Spare parts?

“... and contain a hospital for her...”

Air Force One already has an emergency surgery capability.

“The first 747-100 from Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) was put into service in 1970, and those first planes sold at a list price of $24 million. Adjusting for inflation, that same 747 would sell today for $146.6 million. So why does Boeing list the passenger version of a new 747-8 for $356.9 million and the freight-hauling version at $357.5 million?”

Compare the performance of a 747-8 to a 747-100. Then ask the question again. If it hasn't answered itself.

I’m still smiling!
I agree with your every word.
Boeing will come to “terms” with POTUS Trump - you’re right!

Air Force One is not a bog-standard 747.

http://people.howstuffworks.com/air-force-one4.htm

Whether it’s worth all of $4B might be open to negotiation, but it’s unfair to compare AF1 to a line 747 or even a pimped-out Middle-Eastern custom job.

Boeing stock opened down 1%, so I guess the market noticed. It’s back up now, but there was a reaction. I would expect a meeting between the PEOTUS and the BA CEO soon...

Is he going to retrofit one of his planes to accommodate all of the required tech and defensive stuff?
That’d be cool.

I think this is correct. President Trump correctly doesn’t want to take the dishonest press with him on his plane. They can fly commercial. LOL. I expect the B747 will only be used for international trips.

So will those charged with securing the POTUS. I do hope Trump isn’t penny wise and pound foolish with this—for his sake, and ours.

Should be enough space if President Trump is not hauling presstitutes around with him on AF1.

I would just outfit a C17 with some good seats and the comms and take it from there, No extra seats for the MSM.

Bingo. Media is going to be flying Southwest now. LOL.

Repaint Trump Force One. Add skunkworks electronics. Done.

Yep. President Trump is going to rightsize the executive branch ASAP. Already being reported his going to cut the WH NSC staff from 400 people to 50 or so. The kenyan has massively bloated WH operations and that will end now.

$4 billion for one plane? I know it has special features, but that is absurd.
