Michigan to Move Ahead with Presidential Recount

Michigan will become the second state to conduct a recount of ballot casts during the 2016 presidential election.

U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith early Monday morning issued an order for Michigan election officials to begin counting ballots starting at noon. The ruling follows a request from Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein after a razor-thin margin made the state the last to be called in the November election. President-elect Donald Trump ended up winning Michigan's 16 electoral votes by just 0.2 percentage points, or just under 10,000 votes out of over 5.5 million cast.

"It is inexcusable for Stein to put Michigan voters at risk of paying millions and potentially losing their voice in the Electoral College in the process," Schuette said in a statement. It is inexcusable for Stein to put MI votes at risk of paying millions and potentially losing their voice in the Elec College.

— A.G. Bill Schuette (@SchuetteOnDuty) December 2, 2016 Stein has spearheaded a recount effort in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin -- three battleground states where Donald Trump narrowly defeated Hillary Clinton. Trump supporters in Wisconsin have unsuccessfully tried to stop the recount in progress there. Stein's campaign, who withdrew a recount request in a Pennsylvania state court, this weekend said she would instead file the lawsuit seeking a statewide recount in federal court Monday morning.

The recount must not include would-be votes using the provisional ballot affidavit when the voter did not provide adequate ID within the 10 days they were given.

Since they're doing it by hand, how are they testing the integrity of the machines?

And in Wisconsin, I read that they're not even using the same machines.

Also in Wisconsin, some are by machine, some are by hand and I believe that's a no no.

Do we have a law case for the Supremes?

Original counts will stand and the state will certify if recount is incomplete.

Yes. He’s an Obama appointee.

BTW: This goes to the MI Supreme Court tomorrow or Wednesday, and it’s reported to be 5-2 republican. So they could end it all recounts then.

Where does a Federal Judge decide that we need to enter the realm of slanted politics in deciding State election cycles? If the fed gets involved, they should be non-biased and recount a proportional number of states that Hitlery (aka commie bitch) barely won?

The Voting Rights Act gave massive amounts of power over state election processes to the Federal Judiciary.

The Law of Unintended Consequences.

I’m thinking, that, ^maybe^...given the results of Wisconsin Recount, AG Schuette wants to shove it in Hillary/Stein’s collective faces when they find EVEN MORE Trump votes.

This is bad news. Yesterday, the final margin was 10,700 votes. Now the margin is down to “less that 10,000” and that’s before the recount has even begun.

A.G. Bill Schuette should take it to the next higher court, which would be the Supreme Court and request an appeal and a temporary stay.

:: it’s reported to be 5-2 republican. So they could end it all recounts then ::

Sadly, you remind us that this should not be the way S-SC adjudicates.

They should be impartial and disregard their party affiliation once in position. The rabble (which includes us Constitutionalists) must not ^depend^* upon the judges’ party affiliation.

* Because DEPENDS are generally full of ‘schmidt’ and need to be changed often?

They can’t get a State Court to go along, so they go shopping for a friendly Federal Judge. I assume this can be appealed with an emergency Stay.

The difference is 10,700 votes and not “just under 10,000.”

The MI Secretary of State site still has:

Trump, 2,279,543 47.50%
Clinton, 2,268,839 47.27%

Trump’s winning margin was 10,705. Not sure where CNN gets its bogus numbers.

“U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith has the ability to override state election law because ... “

because the states have been subsumed into a minor role of the central government based in Mordor on the Potomac. Central government can do almost anything it wants, free of the constraints of the 10th Amendment. If anyone doesn’t believe it, just ask a judge. Make that a federal judge, whose salary is paid by the central government.

This is normal for “recounts”. The RATs know exactly how many “votes” they need to “win” and start working their way towards that goal. The Republican NEVER picks up extra votes during “recounts”. These “recounts” are just a scam. ‘RAT voter fraud.

I agree. This isn’t good.
While 10k votes seem like an insurmountable hurdle, reports are there are 75k paper ballots with no readable by machine vote for president.
That’s where this is going to get interesting real fast.

The Federal Judge is relying on the Supremacy Clause. Dr. Stein cherry-picked well. According to his order, the Fed Judge ordered that the recount start “must continue until further order of this court.” (”In ordering the recount to begin at noon Monday, rather than Wednesday morning under the two-day waiting period the state planned to observe, Goldsmith ordered the recount, once started, “must continue until further order of this court.”) Essentially, he removed the matter from the state courts and the count has to continue until he orders it stopped - not likely - or, he is over-ruled by the 6th Circuit.
