American Atheists has unveiled its holiday billboards, including 2 in the Shreveport area.

They encourage people to "Skip church for a merrier Christmas."

The group is trying to stir the pot. "And part of stirring the pot is getting that conversation going," explained Nick Fish, American Atheists' national program director.

"There are atheists in the community, there are people who don't believe in God."

One of the billboards parodies President-elect Donald Trump's campaign slogan.

"Make Christmas Great Again. ... skip church."

American Atheists has its holiday messages on display from Louisiana, to Colorado, even down in Georgia.

No reason they can’t. Perhaps a church will get the idea to address atheists directly.

“Nice people will welcome you to sit in a warm and pretty church! Probably give you a snack, too!”

"Make Christmas Great Again. ... skip church"

That doesn't compute. If you're gonna diss religion...specifically Christianity...the idea would be to do away with the word Christmas and make it just another day.The Fourth of July is just another day in Canada.Sundays are regular workdays in the UAE (which I found confusing during my first visit).

To acknowledge that Christmas was *ever* great is to validate Christianity.

The 501c3 church has become feminized, that is why many men are turning away from it.

Idiot honkeys convert to Islam because, in their defense, not everything is okay with God.

Some things are not OK, that is part of being an adult.

Great idea to include the “snack” part. LOL It’s sort of a rule in a Catholic and also Lutheran parish to provide food at pretty much every gathering. Not every Sunday but there are donut Sundays at least once a month and in some parishes there is coffee and snacks every Sunday. Fun.

Does anyone really care that the atheists get their panties in a wad each Easter and Christmas? I’ve never seen a more miserable people than the atheists. Every one of them I have known has been filled with anger.

OK, Modern Liberals and moslems are also miserable.

What terribly insecure, childish people. They aren’t content with their own beliefs and have to force themselves on others and try to make them miserable.

People whose mouths are full can’t say No when you ask them to volunteer for something.

"Skip church for a merrier Christmas."

The morons just blew it all right there in that statement. If there's no such thing as the baby Jesus, then there's no Christmas. How can one have a merrier Christmas if there's no such thing as Christmas? Makes no sense but protests these days aren't making sense.

A doughnut should be enough for that. If they want you to run a committee, they have to give you enough wine to cloud your judgment and blur your memory.

“You said you would love to! It’s even in the minutes!”

Poor atheists only have one holiday. April Fools Day.

Psalm 14:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no G-d.

When will we see billboards saying, "Skip the Ramadan fast. Eat, drink, and be merry."

We know the answer, and we know how the press would react in that unlikely event: immediate condemnation. In fact, for fear of negative publicity (or worse), a billboard company might even refuse such an ad.

"The 501c3 church has become feminized, that is why many men are turning away from it."

As long ago as the 1970s, I was at a Catholic mass where a nun was urging the congregation to pass "warm fuzzies" to one another.

I would think attending church would actually make Christmas MORE fun. After all, it's the ritual and ceremony and all the trappings -- hymns, nativity scenes, lighted candles -- that give the holiday its depth. Otherwise, it's just a day off work and an excuse to spend a bunch of money on junk you don't need.

And note that I didn't say the trapping gave the holiday its MEANING. That comes from Christ Himself. Take Him out of it and it's just "Xmas," and a bunch of songs, candles, and empty words.
