Congress authorizes Trump to arm Syrian rebels with anti-aircraft missiles (McCain)

Congress authorizes Trump to arm Syrian rebels with anti-aircraft missiles

The House voted for the first time today to explicitly authorize the incoming Donald Trump administration to arm vetted Syrian rebels with anti-aircraft missiles.

Summary Today, the House passed a defense bill that conditionally allows the provision of MANPADs to anti-Syrian regime forces.

Author Julian Pecquet Posted December 2, 2016

While the language in the annual defense bill also creates restrictions on the provision of the controversial weapons, it represents a win for Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain, R-Ariz., a fervent advocate of helping the rebels resist President Bashar al-Assad and his Russian and Iranian allies. The Senate is expected to pass the bill next week.

Until now, the transfer of man-portable air-defense systems, or MANPADs, had been implicitly authorized in the absence of an outright ban. Critics, however, view the new provision as tantamount to a policy recommendation for the president-elect.

"I'm more afraid of Congress on this issue than I am of Trump,” said Robert Naiman, the policy director at Just Foreign Policy, a liberal advocacy group that lobbied for a ban. “I think Congress is trying to tie Trump's hands against making a realistic deal with Russia to end the Syrian civil war. And they are trying to pressure him in the direction of not doing that," he told Al-Monitor.

Mattis is well known in military and foreign policy circles for his aggressive determination to take on America’s foes, notably Iran, including in Syria and Iraq. Testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee as far back as January 2015, however, he opined that the time for supporting moderate rebel fighters against Assad's forces had "passed."

McPain is a total psychopath who wants to see the world burn.

You hit the nail right on the head. However, I'm not sure he's still coherent enough to know what he wants.

The language is faulty from the beginning: they are not mere rebels against Papa Assad. This is ridiculous how they try to run the President through language

I think Nuclear war is only one of the worries. Bottom line is that we have a liberal language for domestic terror politics by McCain, using loosely the word rebels. It is all Detroit plantation mentality

It is also a stupid ploy on the war establishment’s part. Trump has already said he wants to work with Russia to destroy ISIS and Al Qaeda. Why would he give their offshoots weapons to shoot down Russian jets.

That could be disastrous. The islamofascists could turn them on US commercial aircraft, on US aircraft in Afghan or anywhere. They could be used against any nation’s aircraft. And, of course, they could be used against Russian jets pounding ISIS, and that could be viewed as an act of war against Russia.

McCain, why don’t you just cork off and die you traitorous SOB? Did your makeout sessions with the goat-molester Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi when you were the bottom so besot you that betraying your country means nothing?

That legislation will go to the desk of Obama, the current president. The bill will die if Obama does not sign it, because a new congress is being sworn in come January.

I agree, Muslims are incapable of demacracy and can only be ruled by fear and force. That being said, I would rather green-glass the entire Middle East and ensure that the death-plague of Islam is finally and truly dead.

No need to apologize. There are times I fail to state the case so no other interpretation can be made. When you do, it is an accomplishment.

No Way, No How, should Trump ever do this.

It is a set up!!!!!!!! The so called rebels already have the manpads. Hillary gave the manpads to them. That was the real reason behind the Benghazi attack. How to transfer them without Congressional approval.!!!!!!!!!

McCain is an idiot

One senile war-happy maniac does not bother me as much as the majority of US Senators. They give him a majority for his assault on world civilization.

Your description of Islam as a death-plague is correct. It also points the way to a cure. It should be treated as a disease. Like a disease, it gets passed on from generation to generation, affecting everything it touches. I think Christianity is the Holy Grail to a cure. It touches that empty spot that Islam fails: Man’s spiritual desire for redemption and eternal life. Christianity is light years in advancement to Islam. It is man’s crown of creation that took man from barbaric pagan to the Holy Roman Empire. It brought about our nation out of slavery and founded freedom. It is the bullet that will cure the death-plague and it is that cure Islam hates like the plague. It is the cross thrust in the face of Count Dracula.

Trump won by a very slim margin

Bull spit. He won. Get with the program. Trump has done more in a few weeks as President Elect to help the nation than Obama in 8 years.
