According to two people close to the transition, Trump is moving away from two of the front-runners for the job, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee. Giuliani's international business ties and public campaigning for the job are said to have rankled Trump. And while Trump has met twice with Romney, he's said to be aware of the risks of angering his supporters by tapping a Republican who was among his fiercest critics.

Former CIA director David Petraeus is still in the mix, though both people close to the transition said Trump's prolonged decision-making process has left the door open to other options.

One of the sources said Trump was open to expanding his short list of secretary of State prospects. Among the possibilities: Jon Huntsman, a former Republican Utah governor who also served as the ambassador to China and speaks Mandarin.

No Romney. Can’t be trusted.

Trump read "The Snake" at so many rallies. Romney was probably not who Trump was thinking of as "the Snake," but he is! Though he lost, he still thinks he is smarter than Trump.

Corker bill was the one that turned the congressional approval of the Iran nuclear treaty on its head to make congress reject the treaty instead of ratify it, as the Constitution explicitly says. That guaranteed no significant hurdle in pushing that through a Senate swamp.

I’d take Romney before Corker, but both at the bottom of the list.

Bolton is the man.

Ha! We had a guy who FReepmailed several of us to rally for Jon Huntman years ago.

He didn’t last too long.....lol. Probably a Glenn Beck plant.

I have a pretty full schedule for the next couple of months, so I had to pass.

Oh wait...were you being sarcastic? Sorry, that slipped past me.

“Nukes For The Ayatollahs” Corker doesn’t need to have anything to do with foreign policy or treaties of any kind ever.

“I don’t see Petraus (sp) making it.”

I don’t either. For one thing he is anti-gun.

How long will this guessing game continue?
I suppose Trump can keep everybody hanging until after the inauguration if he chooses to.

I doubt the Trump source said Hunstman specifically. Just among the possibilities in the reporter’s vapid mind, not Trump’s list.

Trump is picking his brain. Romney is no longer a threat.

Trump either trusts him or he doesn’t. Either way Romney is in or out.

Huntsman backed Trump on FOX News today for talking to Taiwan. His positions on other issues is kind of irrelevant as long as he shares Trump’s foreign policy vision. Anyone is better than Romney!

So he folded like a cheap lawn chair and paid tribute to Caesar. So what? Means nothing. He's a RINO.

Yep; Guiliani misplayed his hand by insisting he would only take SOS. He may end up with nothing although DHS would be a natural fit for him.
